Note: for all references to "god" in this post I refer to the christian god.

I was talking to one of my friends one night, and he was musing about god and lucifer and how god apparently loves everybody equally, yet he is punishing lucifer as we speak.

He came to the conclusion that god is a communist (no, not a theoretical one, the historical example one), saying everyone is equal on one hand while clearly making that impossible by his actions on the other.

I, personally, havent done all that much research into the similarities, suffice to note that god's position of "authority" rules that out to start with.

But aside from that, how similar is god to a communist?

well, in the classical sense, neither exist.

'communism' is the highest ideal of socialism: a state of group-nirvana where everyone helps everyone, nobody wants anything more than they needs, and nobody is corrupt.

1. Communists don't "say everyone is equal on one hand and make that impossible with the other".

The only equality a communists speaks of is that of rights. Could you please show me an example of a socialist country without at least the movement to fulfill that goal? I can't.

2. The early Christians lived in communes and even people before them; so it's no surprise that there are related themes talked about in the bible.

Furthermore, I would say it is Jesus who's the communist (Yes. I know. They are one and the same. I don't believe that at all, so I'm taking Jesus as a seperate character from a book)

It can certainly be said Jesus was a communist, since we have some insight to what he believed in and preached; and it so happens it is somewhat related to communism.

Well seeing as the early Christians already did accomplish it, as did the early humans(in tribal communism)... I guess we're in luck.

Jesus believed in communalism.

I think the similarities stop there.

Care to explain the difference between "communalism" and communism? Furthermore, care to explain why you conclude he believes in communalism instead of communism?
