What stops you from (believing) in christianity?

A whole bunch of reasons, and Im sure that if I studied the bible some more Id find a whole bunch more.

But there is one reason I will point to:

Being a christian involves accepting an arbitary authority, for little more then "just because".

its not just christianity i dont believe in, i dont believe in god at all. there is a simple reason for this: lack of evidence. as far as im concerned, believing in god is just as irrational as believing in the boogie monster.

Because Yahweh says I can't accomplish anything worthwhile without him. So he can go fuck himself.

Because if you saw the way we forced out beliefs on other countries hundreds of years ago, you would see how much it is like nowadays with the muslim fundimentalists, it was like if you dont believe in our god then your not worth anything and can be killed or something, if you didnt believe in their god that was it, you couldnt do most things.

Plus, lack of evidence, because i wouldnt like the idea of a god who is supposed to be kind basically forcing you to believe in him or you go to hell...because i dont think if there were a god the world would be like it is, because certain types of religious nuts are completely ignorant, its their way or no way, they dont listen to reason, and because if i said to a christian say...i believe in little green goblins that frollick in the woods, and dragons, and tree elves, then they would say im crazy, but if i asked why they believe in god they would say....because of the bible or something stupid like that, what makes their book any more real than my books about goblins.

Using the bible as proof of God is circular logic...

The bibles exists because of God.

God exists because of the bible.

doubting thomas - one of the disciples, thomas doubts Jesus, and then Jesus tells him " blessed is the one who believes, and has not seen "..

if there was evidence, then the whole world would believe in God, thus, collapsing the whole point in why God put us here in the first place

most of you guys just believe what others say.. " the bible is full of crap ".. etc..

Isiah 55: " For my thoughts are not yours, neither are your ways my ways, " Declares the Lord.

it says in the bible " i have been misrepresented by those who dont know me "

meaning: you guys are just taking someone else's word on that the bible is full of crap.. you guys arnt investigating it, you guys are jsut believe what other people believe.. not seeing it for yourself

I'm not religous because of a few reasons, the main one being lack of evidence.

Isn't that what Christians are doing anyway? Taking someone elses word? I mean, the bible wasn't written by God, but by some other people who happened to be around when the stuff happened.

And, although I myself am not very familiar with the bible, I'm sure that there are quite a few people on here who are, even if they don't believe in it.

The only other thing you could add to this thread that my topic does not isthe case where someone is already content withtheir own religion. That said, refer to my atheism topic.
