why exactly is it that man must be a pitidul, weak, sinful cerature that pales in the face of god? Yes, while whatever action we take may not make a difference on any cosmic scale, we do not operate on any such cosmic scale, so why shouldn't our actions and works should be regarded as very significant?
pretty much, what I'm asking is why must we accept that we're all flawed creatures, and continually remind ourselves that the only justifiable way to continue existing and attain happiness is to accept that some guy died for our sins? Why can't we just be capable beings that are able to live, achieve, and be happy, if we so choose?

ya
Hmm it's just the philosophy of Jesus I guess. It's just that pride often causes bad things like... Like jealousy, which leads to poor judgement and sometimes makes you kill your neighbour because he has a cooler bike.
Also it's kinda that God doesn't want us being obsessed with achieving things in this world, because all that is worldly is fleeting... Material wishes don't provide you with happiness.
Uhm ok I don't really know anything about these things, and I guess I'm not much of a christian but this is how I view stuff. God doesn't want us to believe that WE'VE achieved anything, because everything we have, was given to us, by him. He wants us to be humble and submissive, and not be cocky, because we have no reason to. He doesn't want us to be miserable or anything, rather thankful for what we have, not proud.
Sorry if this was really incoherent, maybe someone else has other ideas or better ways of expressing the same ones I have...

Just forget about it. When it comes to Christians just remember that the Bible was written by man and it holds mans ideas and the last thing Jesus wanted to do was create a religion.

Completely forgot it also said that God told them what to write?
I wonder why around 60 writers over the course of many hundreds of years were unable to contradict themselves at least once?

Can you create a universe out of nothing?
That's the basic idea, at least. The reality is that you CAN create a universe, you're just going to have to die first to learn how to do it. But I digress.
