What is satanism about because my knowledge of it at the moment places it as a New-Age 'religion' for losers.

Another problem with satanism is that it tries to put it's name everywhere (although the moral majority don't help) for example: Most non-metal fans seem to assume that Metal and Iron Maiden in particular are satanic and that their fan-base is largly satanists.

But, if you actually research it you find that this is very far from the truth and that instead satanists have tried to claim Metal music as "Dark... and pleasing to Satan"

The only satanists in popular culture are people like Marilyn Manson who use it to make masses of money from the equally large group of morons who think that they are showing some rebellion or intelligence on their part by being satanist.

Also, all the other satanist are generally losers for example LaVey was failing at school and was highly intravert - he was not an intelligent man of sound mind.

I figured I would post this here because I know a lot of morons on totse and therefore probability dictates that there should be some satanists here.

I have a limited knowledge of it, but it would seem that it tries to attract people who want to be 'individuals', basically people who don't fit into the current social mold. It also takes some of science and adds it's own theories and explanations. I would suggest anyone who wants to try to get to understand the world better to look at it from a viewpoint without religious undertones. Philosophy and scientific studies are a start. Satanism is christian bullshit, trying to eliminate their opponents by calling them evil.

The "new" form of satanism is a form of hedonism if I'm right, wasn't there a fanatic satanist here somewhere I can recall some earlier discussion about this.

No, it doesn't - instead people take the name and try and use it for a shock factor; such people have no idea about the unerlying philosophies of Satanism.

Not really, it is more to do with taking the path that is closest to natural human instinct. Whereas hedonism is more about taking the path that gives the most pleasure.

There are many different versions, and I cannot tell the difference between the new age of BS and the pre 60's stuff, but isn't based around becoming a god yourself? Like, expanding your own power, awareness, and other things in hope of becoming somewhat of a 'god'?

wow, if i didnt know a shitload of people like that, i might take an iota of offense to that. i personally follow a much older form of satanism than the new age bullshit that has come up. most people that i talk to that are followers of it as well are usually highly intelligent people that just didnt like the other religions or didnt agree with them.

anywho, i guess i can cover the main sections of the religion the best i can.

traditional: not usually gothic. does meditation, rituals and celebrates the holidays. we dont usually say everything is due to satan. humans contribute a lot as well. And we dont go whining to satan everytime we get a boo boo.

LaVeyan: near the bottom of the barrel here. they are usually goths or try to be. they say every last fucking thing is due to the entity. they are (or want to be) a Church of Satan member. membership is sitting at about $400 right now. that is a testement to their stupidity. most LaVeyans are the rebellious fuckers who think satanism is rebelling against their christian parents and/or looking cool for their peers.

Devil Worshippers: below the barrel. they pray to the christian satan. they also think physical sacrifices are needed. nuff said.

Yeah, but how can you believe in Satan without believing in God and if you believe in both then it is more logical to follow god than satan.

Also, you guys must be really sad to actually be a 'satanist' it's just some stupid thing some losers made up and then the church made even more fuss about it so now you think it's cool to be satanist because you are rebelling in some way.

Either don't be religious or at least find a half-decent religion that makes at least some logical sense.

There are many "religions" that label themselves as Satanism for either shock factor or to gain popularity with teenagers. The form I am most familiar with is the "Church of Satan," which essentially tells you to do whatever you please. They believe in the "eye for an eye" platform; and their services are usually very sexually explicit. I don't even think they believe in an afterlife.

Kind of odd, sounds like the majority of kids in highschool^^^

LaVey was a genius. Advancement in the COS is heavily based on financial resource, apparently poverty, chastity and humility aren't very satanic traits. Pity, I seem to have unwittingly built my life on them.

With regards music, satan is mare into reggae/R&B, while God is the one with a thing for speed metal. You should see him at a Zombie concert, metal and studs everywhere, snorting anything that will fit up his nose. Yeah, you never read THAT in your bible.

I personally don't subscribe to it, but in my opinion all religion has become falsified, mystified, and plasticized over the centuries. At least Satanism isn't pretending to be something it's not. It's a completely humanly fabricated religion to honor humans. There's no mystery to it.
