if this is the wrong forum go ahead and move it.

And I will execute great vengeance upon them with furious rebukes; and they shall know that I [am] the LORD, when I shall lay my vengeance upon them.

^the normal from the bible

"The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness. For he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know I am the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you."

^similar but w/the other stuff

is this front part found anywhere in the bible, or is it just added for the movie?

I think the version Quinton Tarentino used was more based on the passage from King James's Bible, printed sometime in the 1600's, but I'm not too quite sure.

also he took bits from the psalms and then made it more dramatic

psalms is pretty dramatic anyway - imagine Psalms:The Movie starring Bruce Willis as David. Not that would be something to see!

Wikipedia has this to say:

quote:This is actually a typically obscure reference to Karate Kiba / Chiba the Bodyguard, a 1976 film starring Sonny Chiba (whom Tarantino has hailed as "the greatest actor to ever work in martial arts films"), which opens with a nearly identical misquote, likewise attributed to Ezekiel 25:17:

The path of the righteous man and defender is beset on all sides by the iniquity of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper, and the finder of lost children. And I will execute great vengeance upon them with furious anger, who poison and destroy my brothers; and they shall know that I am Chiba the Bodyguard when I lay my vengeance upon them! (Ezekiel 25:17)

One of the things I love about Quentin Tarantino's films is how they work on two levels. On the one hand you can simply enjoy them as being badass, well told stories. But on the other hand, they are full of an insane amount of subtle references to other films that you'd only pick up on if you are a real film buff.

I only enjoyed it for the amphetamine violence, but apparently the references in the Kill Bill films are just off the scale.
