View Full Version : Higher Powers

If there is some higher power that is beyond the comprehension of human concious, it doesn't seem like that power would really care whether we are good or bad, or whether we pray, or seek truth, or any of that, because it seems that all human actions come from the same fundamental thought process. There's like no way to break free from our thought process and reach the divine. I'm not sure I'm being really clear on what I got to say. Does anyone got any input? I'd prefer someone to take what I have to say further, cause I'm having trouble articulating what I'm thinking. But if you wish to refute this, that's fine too, I guess.

there is no 'god' but the 'god fo science' to put it bluntly, nothing will help humandkind understand its own existance other then complete comprehension on the world and universe in which we live.
'god' is a fallacy, the fact holy books are man derived already negates their credibility.
even science cannot be '100% proved' although it is a far mor realistic alternative.

That's a good point, but when you think about it, Science is a collection of empirical data, which basically means it comes from our observation, which is based on our thoughts. So science, like everything, is in our head. So when studying the universe, and everything else we are essentialy studying ourselves. There's evidence of that in how a photon can be either a particle or a wave, depending on how it's observed. Quantam theory as a whole is dependant on observation.

My view of science is that it is
about making working "models"
of reality.
The models are not the same as
the underlying reality, whatever
that might be, which may not be
quantifiable in human terms.
The worth of any given model
is how accurately it predicts our
observations and how useful
it is for our interactions with
the world.
Science is not a religion.
Science does not propose an
ultimate reality, or a sense
of purpose or meaning to life.
It's a mistake to expect it should.

Note however that everybody has different thoughts, and yet anybody will get the same empirical data from scientific observation. So scientific data is not dependent on how one thinks.
