After reading up and doing a bit of research, I have come to the conclusion that Asatru is correct for me. From my understanding, initiation into the tradition is typically done in an "Adoption Ceremony." The only problem here is, there are no kindreds around here. Is there a way to initiate myself without having an adoption ceremony?

This guy's blog might have some relevant info. He's relating it as a somaferan, but he does explain some kind of a self-initiation. It's frustratingly vague, and presupposes alot og knowledge, but better than nothing. It might at least give you a start point.
I don't belong to a kindred. You don't need to. Initiation is ceremonial bull, just rigged up to make you feel like you're joining something new, when in fact, you're not.
Asatru is not Christianity, you don't have initiation rites.

I don't know. The emphasis on family and all that might make it a nice effect.
If he's not doing it with his family, there is no real point.

Perhaps community would have been a better word.
I realize what you mean, but the fact is that real family comes before community. Even if your family isn't the same faith, you should be bonding with them before a community. I don't quite buy into the kindred thing.
