I'm not sure if you understood the "greatest commandment" it doesn't exactly sum it all up as you say but, serves as the foundation for all the others. I'll explain -

36"Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" 37Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.'[b] 38This is the first and greatest commandment. 39And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'[c] 40All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments." Matthew 22:36-40 NIV

I'm assuming you meant this verse. This is where the "golden rule" came from. "Do onto others as you would to yourself" or something like that.

The greatest commandment does not do away with the other commandments or covenents. They still exist and if we were to say that the greatest commandment fullfills them and does away with them then we would not be telling the truth. The greatest commandment serves as the foundation for all the others. The following explains it-

" 1If I speak in the tongues[a] of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames,[b] but have not love, I gain nothing." 1 Corinthians 13:1-3 NIV

If the intentions of your heart are not from love of God or your neighbor then what you do is pointless in the eyes of God. God judges impartially on our thoughts and deeds based on our love for our fellow man.

Loving your neighbor is gain in the eyes of God. It is the fruit of the Spirit. It is the mark of a transformed born-again soul.

If I did not love you I would not have told you. What is love but obediance to the will of God. This is a mystery and only understood by the one who surrenders himself to the all mighty creator. What does it mean to obey God but to love Him and your neighbor.

God bless~

Kinda sounds like the caste system in India.

Maybe they're trying to control the masses.

Maybe installing laws instead of mystical threats would help things.

Really, the idea isn't a bad one, and that's from an atheist. People twist religion. It is their weapon. The gun can protect or the gun can kill. It depends on whose ahnds it falls into. In that metaphor, I'd be a pacifist.
