Have you noticed that they do that in almost all tv shows too? If a group are seated at a table, they'll sit round 3 sides of it max. so the camera can see everyone at once.

What the hell would they have been doing in Rome? As I recall, Jesus' last days were spent in Jerusalem, and I know I remember he was executed at Golgotha, which is just outside Jerusalem.

da vinci lived a 1000 years after chirst, i dont think he would have been aware at the time that they dined on the floor.

there is no one on the our side of the table because whats the point, you wont see their face. he painted it so you could see the last supper, not glance over its shoulder
