so what would your version of hell be like (in terms of Dantes inferno.IE level of lust, greed, betrayal, gluttony, etc.)

Lust-Its basically a rave with the same techno 4 beat for eternity, burning floors,no AC,very very crowded, cant sit down, cant stop.

Gluttony-an arerobics class that goes on forever with a yoko ono song to work out to(the class is led by a 2-headed richard simmons)

Greed-they basically push their escalades, bentely, cady, boat or whatever up a giant hill(that never ends)

Wrath-dont know yet

Sloth-forced to watch Mrs. Doubtfire forever.wide screen.

Heretics-forced to burn in a tanning bed for eternity

more to come...

lets here your ideas

SWIM thinks that hell is just a philosophical paradox, in which the subject is eternally trapped in.

Hell is not a psysical place, and you don't go burn deep down near the earth's core.

Hell was ment to be a mindset, in which, if the person does not fulfill his duties to relegeon, he will will be trapped in a mental hell on earth, untill he is saved.

SWIMs hell, would be everything he has done wrong, and all the times he has selfishly affected others, and all the times hes really hurt people. This hell is not physically painful, but painful emotionally where it hurts the most. Being inferior to god, we are told to ask for forgiveness, and learn from our mistakes - Resulting in us not being in 'our' hells.

I think Dante wrote a good book but I wouldn't hang all my beliefs on his. His views aren't entirely scriptural. He gives his own personal apologetic. I agree that his reasoning why the seven deadly sins are valid, but varying degrees of hell are not scriptural. That is actually a Buddhist belief who believe there are several circles of hell that a soul will condemned to.
