Actually it is because of Islam that we are this far technologically anyways. The first Islamic empires were centers of learning. Take a look at Baghdad at around 1100 AD it was a sprawling metropolis. IT was the center of the world technologically. Actually the only reason that the west is superior now is that mongols came and destroyed the muslim empire. If it were not for that we would be debating as to why the west is so backward. In Baghdad they were learning from all those old greek manuscripts and then making new ideas.
