If any one group could be blamed for the downfall of contemporary society, or even society in general, it would without a doubt go to religious fundamentalists. Their actions since their inception have been irresponsible, arrogant and regressive. As far the most detrimental current groups, there are two major ones. The Muslims and the
Christians. They come in numbers, so they of course have a place in the political system. Even though they shouldn't since they enjoy the luxury of not having to pay taxes, but insist on having a big, loud say in our political system. The forceful manner of some spokespersons and lobbyists borderline on facism. Their Agenda is dangerous, and attitude is ancient. Their fanatical presence in politics often display their unstable behavioral tendencies of eccentric, disturbed, and ignorant individuals. Unforunately our political process is congested with this waste of humanity, and their values are affecting the worlds view on the United States.
Religious Fundamentalism is defined as a movement with a desire to return to the ways of old, with original hardline religious values governing its society. There are multiple dangerous errs in this thought process. First of all, regression is ALWAYS bad, we're supposed to learn from our mistakes, not embrace them. Second, think back and think to a time when religion governed society. A time where heretics, free thinkers, and the educated were scorned, jailed, beaten, tortured. This is an embarrassing time which is not be forgotten, and certainly not to be revisited! This philosophy rejects natures design for human success: the frontal lobe. The frontal lobe is an area of the brain that develops in adulthood that allows you to make mature and logical judgements in life. Religion preaches ignorance, and as any person who hasnt ignored their frontal lobe knows that ignorance is the enemy of logic. When logic is a threat, you know there has got to be a serious problem.
In todays world, there are two main groups that are the biggest and most dangerous to a peaceful, progressing culture. Christians and Muslims are the undisputed
promotors of fanaticism, insanity, and regression. Muslims are no doubt dangerous, but they're not a superpower, so they dont have as much influence. A fundamentalist's
desire is go back to the dark ages, where humans are bound by the shackles of ignorance. It is often said the Muslims are the most prone to violence, but Christian
philosophy is equally vicious. The United State's administration, (which has been dominated by Christians since George W Bush's inauguration) has started more war with
other countries, and murdered more innocents in the name of god then the Muslims have. It is also inscreasingly apparent that our technology has surpassed our humanity, as it would be very easy to be questioned and detained by our government for such a statement. Muslims are no Mr Rogers either. They practice some of the most strict,
old, violent ways of thinking. They make brutal statements with seemingly little to no value for life.
There are too many problems with the fundamentalist way of thinking for it to ever be considered as a guideline to followed by people in today's world. As stated earlier, they have no problem not paying taxes, but they sure want to be involved in our lawmaking process. They want to reject science, they want to force their morals and
values on us, as if they are infallible. They also --like a virus-- want to infect the world with their dogmatic thinking, with their germs: the missionaries. Its sick and sad, and is imperitive to take this demographic out of power to progress our society.
Our government must recognize this extremely dangerous, regressive, foolish way of thinking, and reject it. The fundamentalists certainly would not be rational for one minute and realize the criiticism against them is overwhelming. They are so arrogant that they dont even recognize their own hyporcrisies. Take one petty argument among many for example: The book of Exodus says that when a man's brother dies, he must marry his widowed sister-in-law. Yet, the fundies often rabble on about the sanctity of marriage, and preach monogomy, and certainly do not adhere to this doctrine. The also ignore the most reasonable, strong critiscism against them: They have absolutely no proof of their claims. They ignore all reason but demand to be heard, and adhered to. This is most unreasonable and absurd. They are most lucky that our government does not favor the same forceful approach to sprituality, and they're especially fortunate things aren't done with a karmatic way of thinking, or we would be
burning a lot of ignorant people at the stake.
