View Full Version : Is Agnostic Christianity possible?

When I heard a girl say today that she was an Agnostic Christian, my first thought was "Bullshit." I wondered how you can say "I don't know" but go through the Christian motions anyway. Then I thought maybe she was asserting the fact that she didn't really know anything, but was willing to worship Jesus for insurance. So this is the dilemma. Is it possible or not? Your opinion is appreciated, I honestly cannot come to a solid conclusion.

That's what weak people do who truly are afraid of going to hell. That is the ONLY reason they would do that.

It is not possible to be a Christian without believing that there is a God.

Well an agnostic is someone who will not accept the existance of god without proof, but they still may accept christian values, so yeah why not!.....just because you're a sceptic dosen't preclude you from being a moral human being!

If she didn't believe that God was God and the only God....then what would the point be? Nigga be struck down regardless.

Ok, fine I went off on a tangent, but, people cannot attach two opposing words and claim to be both, you cant be a short-tall person, so how the hell could you be an agnostic christian? Christianity is NOT a lifestyle, you dont just take one part and say thats what you wanna believe, unless of course, your a baptist... but agnostic christians could be stating they worship only jesus, since...well you get it...but then its not christianity, its just idolization of one person, which is not a higher-power, which cannot be classified as religon

Seems perfectly fine to me. Agnosticism is just a lack of knowledge. You can believe in something without being able to prove it, that's what every Christian does. This one just happens to admit they can't prove it.

A = Agnostic

C = Christian

G = God

C x G = 100%

Since

A x G =/= 100%

We can safely say

C =/= A

Moreover why the fuck would you believe in somehting you can't prove or don't know that it exists even after admitting it?

the answer is in the difference between belief and knowledge.

Agnostic-I do not know if there is a god

Christian-acknowledge god as existing and KNOW that there arent any other gods

I believe the errr....bible(yeah, thats it)

said something about that, so...there....

I don't know if God exists, but in the off chance that he does, I'd like to live my life as a decent person.

Interesting proof. But yes, Christianity != morality. Morality != Christianity.
