Meet Matthew Lee Cloyd, 20. He and his college buddies decided to have some "fun". They thought it would be a barrell of laughs to burn down some churches in Alabama. He thinks of it as "a joke and it got out of hand." A joke, huh? Burning down a church is a "joke"?

All along I was praying for these little bastards to be caught and given a one-way ticket to hell. Now they got them, but wait, are people are making excuses for this?

Gov. Bob Riley said the fires did not appear to be "any type of conspiracy against organized religion" or the Baptist faith. With the arrests, he said, "the faith-based community can rest a little easier."



We can all rest easier knowing that it wasn't a band of Islamics terrorizing Jesustown, that is correct. It was punk kids terrorizing Jesustown.

This happened for a reason. There is an important lesson to be learned in all of this, but I just haven't developed that idea fully yet.

What do you think about all of this? How many years in the federal pen do they deserve? Should they be hanged live on TV by the local sheriff?

i would say good for them, as long as the reason they did it was not racism and hatred of brown people. christians do not have a monopoly of my hatred towards religious superstition.

i'm all for the burning of churches and other buildings used for religious loitering

When I first started hearing about the churches getting burned, I couldn't stop laughing. I think it was fucking hilarious, and no one was harmed. Sucks that they go to jail for 40 years or more. Least they can say they burned more churches than the devil has so far...maybe. o.O

That's stupid. Burning down any religious institution only strengthens the believers' beliefs.

If you really do give these guys the thumbs up, it's for one of three reasons.

1. You're an idiot.

2. You're partly joking and trying to get a rise out of people.

3.You're too young and don't know what you really think yet.

Anyway, Arsons bad enough but multiple arson in places of faith is something else. I was going to say betwen 5-10 years, but 40 is way too fucking excessive since nobody died, thats over a life sentence. But really what would you expect burning churches in Alabama, I mean what the fuck were they thinking?

Interesting that its not deemed a hate crime, even though, its quite obvious that their attacks were directed at a specific group and not some random cases of arson. What do you suppose would happen if they burned down a bunch of church of Satan's? Or some synagogues? Or some Mosques? They'd throw the book at them, but since it was just piddly little churches, who cares, eh?

well we will just have to sit and wait until " god " punishes them. As for now let them go free.

Hypocrites. It's OK to burn down a church, but if you burn down a place that kills babies you're a criminal. My church doesn't pay taxes, but no one makes money off of it either. I can see the problem with churches that pay their pastors/priests/bishops/whatever not paying taxes though.

I was so hoping it was actually Varg behind the fires, on a temporary work visa or some shit. Now THAT'D be some good publicity.

I blame George Bush since he committed crimes as a young college student like the three young boys that burned those churches.
