im currently atheist, but i want an interesting, perhaps somewhat random religion i can tell people about.

i was thinking perhaps pagan? im not really into that wicken, witches, mother earth stuff though.

any suggestions?

So what you're saying is that you lack any real conviction for your atheism, but you want an obscure religious belief to espouse how cool you are to anyone who asks you..... Is that about it?

same here. i find it funny how text in a book can make people think "God" is talking to them. that and how the most religious nuts are the people that don't even follow what their religion preaches.

You really shouldn't seek a religion just for the 'interesting' factor. Find something that spiritually aligns with your mentality and is personally fulfilling. Buddhism is a good option, if you want a spiritual path rather than a religion or in addition to a religion.

Be a quaker. Theres like 3 of them.

I would explain to you that you should believe in yourself, your intellect, and trust your heart, but you clearly are not one of the ones who needs religion (opiate of the people). If you want a cool religion to tell about, make up your own. Claim historical events, ignore science, create morally-irrelevant moral laws, and make up some very cool interesting ritual. They should make that into a product- "Create-o-Religion."

one of my college professors used to be a quaker. he taught abstract data structures in the computer science department. he also used to be one of the top programmers for sun microsystems. reason why he USED to be a quaker: they threw him out of their society because he wanted to continue his studies and goto college.

But when you realize the power you have just by knowing a person's religion, and having the ability to manipulate him through that religion, religion becomes your friend. That's why I don't want religion to go away, religious people are the biggest fucking tools there are, it rocks.

Of course, if porn made us unhealthy, wouldn't we all be dead? I've always hated that statement- It effects everyone differently, and it only mentally harms those who feel guilty due to false indoctrinations (like the christian one) or those who get addicted to it in an unhealthy fashion. Of course, false moral generalizations are very typical of catholic morality.

Only if you're a manipulative asshole who can't find any of way to get people to do what he wants them to do because nobody likes him because he's a manipulative asshole.

The fact that religion is used as a political tool to control people is fucked up an not at all indicative of whatever religion at hand.

You can't be a Zoroastrian. There's about 30,000 of them left, and you have to be born to the religion. They don't accept converts. It's hard to even get a copy of the avestas.
