View Full Version : Are people going to continually mock me just because i believe in something?
Wel ok so what, i think 'Scientology' is a good thing.. And its helped so many people etc.
I still dont believe i should be ridiculed because i said something positive about it...
I understand that most people only hear bad things about it, but i doubt any of you have actually heard the good things it does. How can you judge something with only one sided view points? All im asking is to keep an open mind about it. Dont just go along with what some mass media is calling it.
Ok thats all. *sigh* i know im going to be totally owned with this. But at least i tried.

It is physically and mentally impossible to write nearly one million books, save that each one consists of a paragraph or two. Perhaps you don't quite understand just how large of a quantity one million is? Someone has lied to you.
Assuming he did write this many books, the good majority of them would be worthless shite as one would have to make time a priority over quality. If suddenly the number of books a man writes takes precedence over the quality of his insight...wait, nevermind...that's been the case for the last 100 years, give or take a decade or two.

Alright, scientology mostly seems no more ridiculous than any other organized belief system. I do have a major problem with its stance on psychology and psychiatry. Things have changed a whole lot since Hubbard "declared war" on psychiatry in 1966. Oodles of better medications have come out, brutal practices have mostly or totally ended (depending on your opinion of ECT), and a lot of science has come out to back up this field (in this time it's really, really hard to believe Hubbard's claim that science hasn't shown that mental issues have neurochemical causes). Show me a schizophrenic who's been healed by dianetics and I might reconsider all of this . . .
A better question: Are you going to continually believe in something just because people mock you?

No, that site was created because Scientology is an oppressive cult created by a man whose only interest was taking people's hard earned money for himself. Scientology's history and practices are well-known and easily researchable from a variety of sources, up to and including various TIME magazine articles. Scientology has even been *banned* in some countries because of the negative effects it has on people. Or maybe you don't mind how the Sea Org division treats it's members and their children?

I don't believe Scientology is a cult. I KNOW Scientology is a cult. It's called facts and evidence. If you actually tried doing some research you might actually learn something. Clambake.org is not the only resource you can use to find evidence. Like I said, look up past issues of TIME Magazine if you want more information. Just because someone is pointing out the terrible fucking flaws in your belief system doesn't automatically make them wrong. Stop thinking emotionally and start thinking rationally. TIME Magazine is a valid source of information, as is National Geographic. The information is out there, you only need to find it (and believe me, it's not that fucking hard.)

When you place your belief in the following, you're in no place to call others 'idiots':
quote:Who is Xenu?
I'm going to tell you a story. Are you sitting comfortably? Right, then I'll begin.
Once upon a time (75 million years ago to be more precise) there was an alien galactic ruler named Xenu. Xenu was in charge of all the planets in this part of the galaxy including our own planet Earth, except in those days it was called Teegeeack.
Xenu the alien ruler Now Xenu had a problem. All of the 76 planets he controlled were overpopulated. Each planet had on average 178 billion people. He wanted to get rid of all the overpopulation so he had a plan.
Xenu took over complete control with the help of renegades to defeat the good people and the Loyal Officers. Then with the help of psychiatrists he called in billions of people for income tax inspections where they were instead given injections of alcohol and glycol mixed to paralyse them. Then they were put into space planes that looked exactly like DC8s (except they had rocket motors instead of propellers).
These DC8 space planes then flew to planet Earth where the paralysed people were stacked around the bases of volcanoes in their hundreds of billions. When they had finished stacking them around then H-bombs were lowered into the volcanoes. Xenu then detonated all the H-bombs at the same time and everyone was killed.
The story doesn't end there though. Since everyone has a soul (called a "thetan" in this story) then you have to trick souls into not coming back again. So while the hundreds of billions of souls were being blown around by the nuclear winds he had special electronic traps that caught all the souls in electronic beams (the electronic beams were sticky like fly-paper).
After he had captured all these souls he had them packed into boxes and taken to a few huge cinemas. There all the souls had to spend days watching special 3D motion pictures that told them what life should be like and many confusing things. In this film they were shown false pictures and told they were God, The Devil and Christ. In the story this process is called "implanting".
When the films ended and the souls left the cinema these souls started to stick together because since they had all seen the same film they thought they were the same people. They clustered in groups of a few thousand. Now because there were only a few living bodies left they stayed as clusters and inhabited these bodies.
As for Xenu, the Loyal Officers finally overthrew him and they locked him away in a mountain on one of the planets. He is kept in by a force-field powered by an eternal battery and Xenu is still alive today.
That is the end of the story. And so today everyone is full of these clusters of souls called "body thetans". And if we are to be a free soul then we have to remove all these "body thetans" and pay lots of money to do so. And the only reason people believe in God and Christ was because it was in the film their body thetans saw 75 million years ago.
Well what did you think of that story?
What? You thought it was a stupid story?
Well so do we. However, this story is the core belief in the religion known as Scientology.* If people knew about this story then most people would never get involved in it. This story is told to you when you reach one of their secret levels called OT III. After that you are supposed to telepathically communicate with these body thetans to make them go away. You have to pay a lot of money to get to this level and do this (or you have to work very hard for the organisation on extremely low pay for many years).
We are telling you this story as a warning. If you become involved with Scientology then we would like you to do so with your eyes open and fully aware of the sort of material it contains.
OT3 in Hubbard's handwriting Most of the Scientologists who work in their Dianetics centres and so called "Churches" of Scientology do not know this story since they are not allowed to hear it until they reach the secret "upper" levels of Scientology. It may take them many years before they reach this level if they ever do. The ones who do know it are forced to keep it a secret and not tell it to those people who are joining Scientology.
Now you have read this you know their big secret. Don't let us put you off joining though.
There you have it, scientology in a nutshell.

My point was fairly broad, and was just trying to get people to think. Everyone can, and may be in a cult. To varying degrees. Given that:

So because someone is adhering to a differing set of moral and spirtual beliefs, to you, doesn't axiomatically make them an idiot/loser/etc. Does it?

Your completely correct. And yes, i do not judge the entire field as evil. The ONLY point i was trying to make was that scientology can help some people. Im not saying some of it isnt weird and fishy. But still keep an open mind http://www.totse.com/bbs/smile.gif (http://www.totse.com/bbs/smile.gif) aiiiight
If it works for you and you're individual enough to think critically about it, go for it. In my opinion, a belief system is good if it leads to more happiness than misery. I didn't mean to flame, I just wanted to see what a down-to-earth scientologist would think about that topic (I don't think I should expect Tom Cruise to represent all of you).

Scientology is a stupid cult. See the episode of south park "trapped in the closet" and see www.xenu.net (http://www.xenu.net)
The whole cult is plagued by scandals and pure lunacy, only the brainwashed believe in that crap. I enjoying pwning scientologists when they come on the my university to spread their lunacy.

A cult is simply a religion that doesn't have enough tfollowers tobe considered a religion. All religions were considered cults because they were discriminated against by the powers of the time until they gained enough followers.

I'm not being harsh to anyone, and no one person's beliefs does not mke that person an "idiot" or a "loser", etc. I agree with you on that

4. A usually nonscientific method or regimen claimed by its originator to have exclusive or exceptional power in curing a particular disease.

I'm sorry, everything can be a cult. Stop calling cults stupid, or at least without me putting words in your mouth there, stop calling scientology stupid.

Kenneth E. Hagin, said that a young man approached him once, asking him to pray for him. He said, "What do you want me to pray for you about." The man replied, "Brother Hagin, Pray that I don't have anymore trouble with the devil." Brother Hagin said, "Do you want me to pray that you die?"
As long as you're alive, you're going to contend, blend, or pretend. Let me say what I mean.
Pretend to blend- There are many people who don't blend in, but they pretend to. They know they're different, but they try to 'blend in' with society.
Pretend to contend- There are 'Christians' who put on a 'show' at the alter, as if it's a stage. They pretend like they're fighting the fight of faith, and walk in victory; as soon as they exit the building, they began to speak their defeat, and completely act a totally different way.
Contender-Someone who will fall, and get back up. Someone who will NEVER under ANY circumstance cease to BELIEVE God and speak His Word. Someone who will SPEAK His Word, Cling to IT, Believe it, and that GOD is ABLE to do what He said He would do. Someone who will BELIEVE GOD and not be moved by CIRCUMSTANCES or situations OR feelings. Because FAITH doesn't CEASE to believe. If it's REAL FAITH, You'll cling to the promise of God, REGARDLESS OF WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE, Until everything around you conforms to the what the WORD of God says.
Are you moved, because of how you FEEL, or what you SEE?
Do you contend or do you pretend?

Whether Scientology is a cult or not is irrevelant to me. Its still a horrible organization, and hypocritical to an immense degree. They claim Psychiatry is a bunch of garbage with nothing to support it, and how devestating it is, yet they support a program such as Narcanon.
Narcanon uses barbaric methods for "cleansing" the body in hopes of curing addiction. Curing addiction is in and of itself, a very noble cause, no doubt. Just the way they go about it is completely wrong. Not to mention you have to pay astronomical amounts of money to even get enrolled in their program.
I'm not reffering to Narcotics Anonymous, the offshoot of AA, just to clarify. I might not agree with this program either, but its not because its harmful.

lol if youre really a scientologist then you obviously have no brain. its nothing but an organization that steals money from retards, and believes in space golgonaks.
Scientology is the most rampantly idiotic 'religion' ever. Christianity and Islam are also, very probably, bullshit. The difference is that with the latter you have the facade of time to lend an air of mystery to the whole thing.
Let's imagine, for a second, that Christianity was just becoming a 'fad' now (in the way that Scientology is doing). Let's abandon all preconceptions for a moment. The idea that an eternal, omnipotent being created the world in 7 days and performed a series of miracles dictating how we should live our lives is just as preposterous as an alien overlord hypnotising people's souls. If you were told "Apparently, there's this guy that's God's son and to prove it, he walked on water", what would you say in response? Assuming there's no evidence, "Bullshit!" is my guess.
Therefore, Zoe, I'll concede that your beliefs are no more or less valid than those of a Christian/Muslim/whatever.
Keep in mind, though, it's much easier to ridicule Scientology, because it's just so fucking stupid.
I feel your pain partially dude, although not as bad, I am a Pagan, and so I often get told I am going to Hell and that I'm evil. I don't know much about Scientoligy, what I have heard however, sounds pretty far out there. I respect your beliefs, and I'de like to learn a little more about it, because all I've heard about it is what people say to make fun of it, I heard something about Scientolagists believe we were created by aliens from another galaxy? I'm not putting that down if it is true, but I don't believe you people believe that, so please, someone who actually KNOWS the religion, and isn't going to just tell me how stupid they think it is, send me an E-mail explaining what Scientoligy is please.
