Im an athiest and i think religion is the source of violence because religion causes more ways to be different and gives nutjobs more reasons to hate people. Without religion, there wouldn't be any islamic terrorists crashing planes into towers, and there wouldn't be any blowing up busses in isreal. Religion might give people hope and morale values but most of those values are interpretted wrong and not taught anyways. Also, most values taught in religion are common sense. If you had never read it in the bible, you would still think its wrong to murder right? Any religion that encourages missionaries to convert everyone else in the world, is facist and if you read my signature you can see i dont like facists.

The only source of evil is the flesh. Don't blame it on religion. Religion is what keeps alot of the evil from coming out.

Actually Christianity supresses a lot of violence. Islam actually tells muslims to go out and kill infidels (people who don't follow Islam). And I think, while not everyone hates him, we all agree, that Hitler was a very violent person. EVERYTHING he did during the holocost and WWII was justified through evolution. So no, religion is definatly not the source, even though some religions encourage it.

Yes i know that there are plenty of places in the Bible where God commands His followers to go and kill people, but that is their punishment for not following Him, or else it is war. (the Bible says do not murder, not, do not kill)

The people who start wars over religion are not following their religion. Simple as that. They might use religion as an excuse, but it all has to do with pride and power. Even in the case of the Muslims blowing themselves up, that is because of what they are tricked into believing. Their religion does not say that killing "infidels" will get them into heaven.

Aren't you just living in your own little box? Just where do you get that in Islam you are encouraged to kill non-Muslims?

Violence is not evil and violence is not good, it is simply the labelling of a group of actions all animals do.

Violence is a part of nature, and since - in my opinion - religion is manmade, it’s only natural that to a certain extent religion encourages violence.

There’s plenty of quotes in the old testament - and some in the new - where God encourages murder. It’s not just in a few select religions that violence can be found.

I havn't read through the entire koran, no, but I have read parts of it that say if they die killing infedels (non-believers) they will go straight to heaven and have 72 virgins waiting for them. So even the part where they die in service of there God is selfish.
