I recently got an email about the free Quran I ordered and it read like this:

quote:Important Guidelines:

1- Please remember, the Glorious Quran is sacred scripture, and should be treated as such.

2- Please handle this translated copy of the Glorious Quran respectfully, and in a state of personal cleanliness.

3- If you wish to dispose off this copy, do not throw it away. Please forward it to someone, or contact us to arrange a pickup form your location.

Is Islam the only religion with strict rules for handling the Koran?

From what I understand, no. Theres a grip of little tidbits of how you are required to treat the Quran, that didn't even start to go into it. http://www.totse.com/bbs/smile.gif (http://www.totse.com/bbs/smile.gif)

I think jews aren't allowed to touch their Torah rolls. They have a stick with a silver pointing hand on it to help them read. Rich bastards. Well, I think I have a bible lying around in my moist basement somewhere, so if christians are supposed to treat it with care, I could care less/would go to hell.

Not as bad as all the rebellious little fucks who use it as rolling paper I suppose.

No. You ever Jews with the Torah? If you remember the arc of the covenant, I think that should explain how mindful they are of the sacred Word.

You have to pay real respect to God's word in Judaism. They use a little hand (Yad) made of wood or metal in Temple to keep place in reading the Torah. We kiss our prayer books (Siddurim) and Bibles when we're done praying. They have to be stacked in a certain order...prayer books should always be on top of secular books, Bibles on top of those, et cetera... We never let them touch the floor. I've seen Christians act the same way with regard to their texts. I think it's just a general rule that God and his word isn't taken lightly, no matter how you view him.

A Jew friend once told me that if the Torah gets dropped in the synagogue, all the dirty little Jews that are in the presence of the dropped Torah have to fast for 40 days. I'm gonna go with him to his synagogue someday and kick the rabbi in the nuts when he offers me the Torah to kiss, then I'll hang out with his parents and watch them fast. Yippee! What fun.

I believe the only way to get rid of the Koran is to throw it in the ocean, because technically it's not touching the ground. The Koran also has a special little stand for reading it, so it never touches the floor. Also Muslims keep all holy books, including the Bible and the Torah on the uppermost shelf in the room, as a sign of respect.

No problem. Christianity is supposed to be civilized and as such we understand that the Bible itself is merely paper and any method you choose to destroy it with cannot destro its message. http://www.totse.com/bbs/wink.gif (http://www.totse.com/bbs/wink.gif)

In Islam we actually see the written Quran as the word of God, so we take disrespect towards the Quran as disrespect to Allah.

in my religion, totseism, we can only touch the sacred scrolls with our wieners.
