I dont know. Upon search it seems the results take it seriously. That in itself is very weird. The amount of info is astounding which may indicate strength of this "movement". They are building a 50 foot statue of him, or to him in India.

This really belongs in Paranoid Delusions. Pretty much anything Art Bell handles does.

Actually, since this deals in Buddhist eschatology, I'm going to send it to My God.

Maitreya is just an antichrist posing as a saviour... All of those new age ascended masters and what not are very real. I never dealt with Maitreya personally but I've dealt with Saint Germain and I know those two are pretty tight with eachother. They're just very clever spirits that like to manifest physically from time to time, blow peoples minds with signs and wonders and then gain a bunch of followers preaching the uniting of all religions, and ascention to the Christ consciousness, and the I AM prensence and stuff like that...

Honestly, if there was anybody I believed really COULD be the antichrist, it's this Maitreya guy.
The pro-Maitreya guy I heard on Coast to Coast AM a year of so ago convinced me of that.

Uh... No. The statue of the Maitreya Buddha you see is Hotei (The fat one). It was thought (is still thought I suppose) by Mahayana Buddhists that Hotei was the Maitreya; the 'Buddha of the future'. He's supposed to be like.. a Bodhisattva that attained enlightenment and teach the pure dharma.
Edit: Or were you asking what he is supposed to be? Or the statues of speculation where he's not sitting cross-legged? Or the guy in Nairobi who some are calling Maitreya?
