Belly buttons which come from umbilical cords.

Because the artists of the time were probably not that educated on anatomy and biology.

So, none of them probably gave thought to the matter that, since neither was born of woman, they would not have belly buttons.

Seriously, it's not that hard to figure out.

Myths often have inconsistencies with what we know today about reality. And understandably so.

We wouldn't know either way... But being that there would be no need of bellybuttons, they probably didn't have them, although it was prbably already established for their offspring to have them coded in their DNA.

That's my take on it.

So who was there to take their picture?
