i have always thought this, people back in the early days used religion as an explanation for things they did not understand.they were described as "miracles".And why is it that the devil is evil when he punishes bad people? that means he is helping god with the "master plan" or whatever, and earth was obviously not created 6 thousand years ago or whatever all the jesus people think. what about dinosaurs? And if gods really "up there" in space...or the clouds. why are all these people suffering for no reason? does anyone else share my thoughts?
Oh my yes, God exists.
It's just the whole concentrated evil poop thing is a little hard to swallow.
Seeing as how I'm not a poop eater.

you, sir, need to investigate pastafariansim, because My God Can Beat The Shit Out Of Your God
edit: that concept you mentioned has been around for a long time. look at the mid 19th century, when dragons were no longer dragons but dinosaurs.

Unfortunately, their are those who share your views. Almost, exactly. Almost, religiously.
How can you claim to understand something about a group of people you know nothing about?
You think you know.
You think too much.

If there were a god, and im not saying there isnt, then he exists on a different plane. Not in space or in the sky. Don't you think astronauts would have reported seeing heaven? The Devil doesn't punish bad people, they are sentenced to burn with him. If you go by Dante's account, the devil is frozen in a block of ice at the deepest level of hell. Anyway if you are going to attack something do it well.

Dante's Inferno kicked ass. I remember checking that book out as I was checking out one of Nietzsches. The librarian was remarkably educated and gave me quite an odd stare as she processed them. Who knows what was going through her mind.

That's why there was a decrease in the amount religious people after the Enlightenment/Scientific Revolution around the 16th century. I do think that religion is a primitive explanation for mundane phenomenon, but I can't really back that up with facts, only with my biased opinion.
Edit: Yes, the lowest section of Hell according to the Divine Comedy (Inferno, specifically) was frozen, and was home to Satan himself, in which he housed the three heads of Brutus, Cassius, and Judas (I think), the three (arguably) greatest deceivers.

The reason may be part of some mystical plan.

The devil, I think, is blamed as the temptation to do the evil things. He wouldn't be in Heaven alongside God since he tempts people away from Him.
You don't really think you'll find Heaven "up there," do you? Shit, then eventually we could go and visit it, without even dying or worrying about our actions.
People suffer because of the actions of other people. God can't be a superhero and solve every crime on the planet. He leaves it up to us to solve our problems.
Constructive criticism: Dude, learn some proper grammar, or how to let sentences flow into each other... your topics kinda jumped around and seemed like they were meant to relate to each other. I dunno.

He most certainly can, since he is supposedly omnipotent. He can be infinitely better than a superhero; he can not only resolve every crime in our planet, but all the future crime that there will ever be on the universe by merely thinking of it.
This, even if we ignore the fact that there are numerous amounts of suffering taking place which are not directly the result of human actions. Take tornados, hurricanes, and earthquakes for example.
