-I know that you've heard that there are plenty of books left out of the Bible at the request (or by the harsh hand) of the Vatican (or whatever).

-Does anybody have any knowledge of what is contained in these texts? Or even better, any links that they know of already?

-The Church leaves out these books because they would get in the way of their teachings. They might introduce a new character, or some new idea that would change the way people thought about God.

-A new text has been found: http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2006/04/0406_060406_judas.html

-Apparantly Jesus took Judas aside and asked him to free him of his mortal coil, bringing Judas above the rest of His disciples. Jesus didn't see it as betrayal. How else would Jesus die for our sins if there was nobody there to get the ball rolling?

Well, for starters, there are the Dead Sea Scrolls and the Gospel of Mary Magdalene avaliable at your local bookstore, along with the Zohar, which provides an analysis of the Torah. "Lost Books of the Bible" by William Hone contains many apocryphal books such as the Gospel of the Virgin Mary, the Infancy and Childhood of Christ, and the Apostle's Creed, along with Herod's letters to Pontitus Pilate and other things. "The Secret Teachings of Jesus" by Marvin Meyer contains the Gospels of James, Thomas, and John. "The Nag Hammadi Library" by James M. Robinson contains the complete Gnostic scriptures. Many biblical stories are also based on earlier legends and stories; for instance, chapter six of Genesis (the story of Noah's Ark) was primarily taken from the story of Utnapishtim and his Wife from the Epic of Gilgamesh, so you might want to look into some of those too.

Because we can really trust Judas the theif over God Himself.

Thanks Spungo. Wow.

And hey, mod dude: Judas didn't write the book. And how else was Jesus supposed to get crucified? Someone had to be the informant; he just asked Judas to help him out.

or maybe Judas had a fancy for shiny things and was truely bribed? Judas was a known theif and you would actually believe him?
