Can someone explain this religion to me? I realize this is not debating it but I would like a brief overview of it and why people bash it.

No, I have no problem with a good conversation, most of which you present. I was refering more to somebody like TerminatorVinitiator who has a hard time controlling his Tourette's and/or verbal diarrhea. The man is as meanspirited as anyone I've ever known.

I mean, even most of the Totsean atheists don't claim affiliation with him because he just gives atheism a bad name.

Scientology is a bad sci-fi story written by a science fiction writer while hopped up on tons of drugs (ironic since scientology is against drugs), which has been turned into a money grubbing organization which basically charges you to climb higher in the "spiritual" ranks. Giving you a single object to blame for all your ills and offering a simple, buyable cure. Perfect for movie stars.

Relianism has more ground to stand on than scientology.
