No one knows God's timeing, but one of the things that will happen before He comes back, is the temple will be rebuilt in Jeruselem. I have heard that they have all the needed materials and are ready to build, but that Dome of the Rock thing is in the way...

Close reading of the scrupture will reveal that Jesus made strong indications that he would return within the lifetimes of his disciples. Needless to say, that hasn't happened. I'll wager that he was either a phony or he lost his chance; You can take your pick.
