Does somehow adding the H into Jesus Christ's name make it less blasphemous when its used in vain.
Or did jesus actually have a middle name?
If neither of the above are true, then how did this practice arise?

It is just another way of using His name in Vain. You would think that Christ is His last name as you assume here but it is not. You see the Jews did not carry sir names like we do today. How it should read is The Christ, Jesus or Jesus the Christ. He was actually called Jesus the carpenter or "Jesus the son of Joseph" or "Jesus the Carpenters son" in His time.
If you want to be more technical. The actual english translation is YWHW in Hebrew which is Mesiah or Yahshua. Which was then translated to Greek Le-s-ous and then to Latin as Le-so-us and finally to Jesus in English. He doesn't carry the sir name of "christ" or have a middle name starting with the letter H.
It is translated as "Jesus the anointed" or finally "the chosen mesiah".

Good point on Christ not technically being his name...Jesus of Nazareth is used too.
I find the H unnecessary simply "Jesus" or "Christ" will suffice. Now that I think about it the H is probably even extra vainful because it drags the curse out even longer.
But I am still curious as to how the use of H arose.

Personally, I replace the H with an F. The meaning is obvious.
