A while back I had to go to some gay Catholic retreat and there they told us that being gay is not a sin, but premarital sex is. And since the Bible says that marriage is between a man and a women, gay sex is a sin.

Yeah. The bible just says ‘man shall not lay with man’. It doesn’t say man cannot be gay.

Some Christians just use the bible as an excuse for their ignorant hate of gay people.

It's obvious...

Interpret what she wants the bible to mean, then claim she's 100% sure that her interpretation is right, then claim the bible is 100% right and take that for granted, then claim it is not self-righteous to think you know all this.

The bible says not to.

The bible also explains how to beat, breed, and maintain slaves. The bible also blames women for original sin. Samson's wife (Delilah?) is the one who turns him in. And so forth.

However, we are all much nicer, less bigoted (most of us) and all around better people then most of the bible's atrocities, so we choose to ignore them.

I can't say I've studied much about slavery, but I would guess that nowadays (and possibly back then too, like I said I don't know) people would quote the passage about maintaining, breeding, and beating slaves.

Thank God we know better then to have slaves. Digi, what do you think about that? Should we follow God's 'law' and have slaves again?

That really isn't as much an argument against fundamentalists as christians in general. It acknowledges that the bible is not wholly correct and supports immoral acts.
