I would like to share a very important thought with everyone on this forum.

I am an atheist. I do not believe in any religion or god. I cannot be sure if god exists.

There is however one thing I do know for sure...

When I die, I will find out if god exists. I he doesn't then nothing happens. BUT if he does exist and I have to face judgement,I will not be afraid. Do you know why?

The answer is simple. If there is heaven and hell I know that I will be rewarded not punished. This is because I AM a good person. I believe in the same life rules as all true christians, muslims, buddists etc. I try to savour every moment of my life. I would like to experience all wonderful things that have been given to us by destiny (or god). I try to find something new that will put a smile on my face everyday. Nothing gives me more pleasure than helping other people in need. Minor needs and Major needs alike.

The fact is that every religion- real or not, tries to show people the right path in life and all gods reward good people.

This is why I am not afraid of death. Nomatter which god is real or not. I will be rewarded. Even if there is nothing after death I am sure that I will stand on the good side of the universal energy that created us.

any comments and thoughts apreciated

cheers

You sound more like a spirtualist than an atheist. Which is cool because I am a spirtualist also.

I think that the chief problem with this line of thinking is that while the majority of religions do try to encourage good behavior among their adherents, gods tend to be rather pissy about people that outright deny that they exist; this is understandable, as denying that someone exists is widely held to be very rude. Thus I think that it is considerably more likely that while some gods might give you brownie points for thinking up this intriguing variation on Pascal's Wager, most will just fry your ass on general principle.

I know what you mean, and im an athiest too. If you look past all the stupid literal mumbo jumbo it says in the bible or the torah or the koran or the whatever, you'll see that every religion has basic morale values which are pretty darn obvious even if you dont read them somewhere. religion has been distorted and turned into something bad over the years which is why i abandoned it.

Considering there is no real evidence as to the morality of god(that I know of). Isn't it just as likely he will punish you for being good as reward you?
