Today i was like walking to work, i'd just got off the bus, and 20 seconds later a guy approaches me and he's like "hey i found these sitting there do you want them" he was reffering to an italian brand, 30 pack of cigarettes. I was like no thanks and kept going. Not 5 minutes later, im still walking, and i stop at a crossing were i find a half full lighter, and thats when i kinda feaked out, is this a sign that god wants me to smoke or what... please help me.

yes this is definatly a sign i would immediatly start smoking anything you can get your hands on...

No. Sounds to me like you were subconsciously looking for a coincidence. If the guy on the bus hadn't offered you the cigarrettes, you probably would have never noticed the lighter.

One time I had a weight training class at my high school. There was this one girl with brown hair in that class that seemed to have a crush on me. I kept noticing that weird things would happen that would bring us together, as if by fate. One time I missed the regular time to start the weight training thingy (it went on a 30 minute routine) and so I went in for the second round. And she was the only one there with me. I would also meet her by accident over and over outside of class, usually walking through the hallways.

And so one day I eventually got her phone number and tried calling her, thinking I must have been fated to know her somehow. It turned out that she had a boyfriend, and although I suggested that we could talk sometime she never called back. And that was the last time I ever saw or spoke to her.

Point being, coincidences are just that -- coincidences. Try not to take them too seriously.

this made me think and remember my own time that somthing like that so i wrote about it. (difrent thread) strange how shit like that happens but mine was more religeous

I might want to clarify... coincidences can be a sign that there's a relation between two things. Like if you see poop on a rug and a dog nearby, it might be that the dog pooped on the rug. But don't take them to mean anything like something's fated a certain way, or God's telling you something. It just doesn't work that way.

The lighter wasn't hard to miss it was on top of those things you push to cross a road... and i dont think i wanted it consciously or subconsciously, i dont smoke and i know what happens when you do.

i think you were fated together but when you rang her up did you panic and just breath heavily into the phone because that could be your problem

I didn't say you wanted to smoke subconsciously. I said you were looking for a coincidence subconsciously.

Lots of people smoke, so there's lots of cigarrettes and lighters being carried around. So it's not THAT strange of a coincidence. I do agree it's odd, though. But keep in mind that associations like this are just ways that our mind puts together situations logically. And when you can't attribute it to anything rational, you assign it some mysterious force like "God" or "Fate" or if you're really paranoid like me, "The Government."

I've been in college for two years now. Unless she ends up going to the local community college this year (she was two grades beneath me) I don't think anything's going to happen.

I once asked God for a sign that he existed no sooner had I done so a firework went off I then asked God if that was his sign and another one went off no other fireworks went off for the rest of the night and both those fireworks came from different directions.

Sounds like psionics to me. It's usually related to belief, whether it's belief in Christianity or various other religions. I had a similar event happen to me when I was younger, but I don't take it as proof of God's existence anymore now that I understand how psychic abilities can work (they only work sporadically and mostly by accident in untrained individuals).

Unless, of course, similar "signs" happen in different religions with different gods. Which I think happen... although I don't know of any specific cases. Maybe you could say that it's the devil fooling people with false signs, or the people in different religions all worship the same God, but I doubt it.

I still think the problem is what people think of God AS. Usually imagining some guy in the sky or some being In the Universe. Most Religions, from the most ancient hunter gatherer religions to the most recent, if broken down, are always making a metaphor for the One True Undeniable God, which I explain in "What is God?" on the second page of it at the bottom is a convo that explains it fully.

Yes, the "Matrix" is what we exist within, the "Matrix" is the only God. What is the "Matrix"? Reality. The Ultimate Reality, what controls us completely, what we are entirely dependant on, what limits us through its options, what we see and interact with every day, what everything is made of and within. That is the only God. All are within Reality, Made of Reality, Dependant on Reality, it is self sufficient, essentially it is all there is and ever was and ever will be.

To be certain a sign were from God, you would have to specify what the sign would be in order to rule out coincidence. The sign would have to be something beyond the possibility of coincidence. Such as: " If, within the next three minutes, I see a midget in my front yard,wearing a fuzzy blue cowboy hat and a polka dot tutu, while riding a purple ostrich.

I believe that would be acceptable as a genuine sign.

I think many would say "I must've sensed the midget coming and then specified that request specifically, so it was only a kawinkydink and maybe with a dash of psychic phenomenon."

Everyone has a picture of themselves in the future no matter how vivid, all I believe your experience was a "sign" from your higher-self telling you, you were on the right of that person you see yourself being in the future, but this time you were aware of what you done. If God revealed himself to me, and i felt the benevolance of a true spirit and being above all human emmotion or comprehension, and if i could feel at the heard of my soul that this being was not the bullshit made up by religious people, and that they have created a little illusion for themselves...

God bossing me about would be a definate no no, that would just make me think i was having a mind-induced psycadelic experience of some sorts.

I guess i would think over how i felt and what i perceived God's impact to be upon me, and consider based upon other amazing factors in my life.
