If every religion is the right one, according to the followers, how come there are so many religions?

The answer is simple, there is no right religion, they are merely bogus systems to aquire power over the masses. They also all have the same basic flaw too. The flaw is that they all teach peace, yet always create a reason for division in society, which creates conflicts and works against peace. Religion itself is it's own worst enemy.

There are many different religions because not one religion has the answers to everything.

Mostly all religions, from Hinduism to Judaism, to the most early polytheistic religions and pantheistic shamanistic religions all start with the same root idea which can still be found in Hinduism and Islam pretty clearly.

The idea starts like this: Here is Reality, It is what has us under our control, it where everything comes from, it is what everything is made of and existing within, it allows the wind to blow, the birds to fly, the waves to rustle, the planets to orbit. Reality is God, it has many aspects, it is the ruler of the ocean, the ruler of the sky.

To describe each of these aspects some decided to give humanistic metaphorical qualities which later turned into individualized dieties, the common people lost the idea of the One and took each aspect as seperate.

Mostly all religions started out right and with the ultimate and basic truth which no one can deny, Reality exists, we exist within it, it is what everything is dependant on. You can read more about this in "What is God?" on the last page.
