I've never even heard of a shintoist. What kind of religion is that?

It is called the Shinto religion, it first appeared in Japan. It revolves around respect and worship of the Gods and spirits of nature. Many traditions in the Shinto religion are similar to the traditions of ancient Jews and it has been theorized by some that Jews may have traveled to ancient Japan.
