Latly, I been thinking. I belive a religion for my-self would help me out in the long run, in life. But the problem is that many religions I am able to contradict. Mainly the Christian and Cathloic religion. My question is " Is there anyone here who follows a religion that would be worth for me reading up on. I belive that most science is correct. But there are those few things that make me wonder. Any help? " Thanks.

Well I hear Scientology is kicking! But just go to churches around you and talk to the people there.

you should read a little into buddhism which has little to nothing contradicting science you should look into it at religious tolerance.org or if you really want alot of information buddhanet.net

you should also go to churches and talk to the preacher, rabbi, or priest like he said

Islam is a religion of reason, it promotes thought and learning. But if you like to drink, forget about it.

My personal oppinion is that you cant just "look" for a religion and decide wich one you like. My family has 2 religions and no one ever forced me to choose i just felt like im part of one of those.

There are no "bad" religions , just people who got points wrong , or made them to fit their oppinion for exploits.

Most important question is: how do you feel?

Im a Human of science. So the fact that "God" created the world in 7 days(I know the translation differences) just doest seem logical. I just need something to belive in. I almost feel at a lost. I dont know. I cant really describe it..

Every religion is shit. Just coast man, that's what I do. Of course, I don't have to worry about shit because my body is currently host to god himself, hiding from the invasion of heaven. Seriously guys, Heaven's losing so all you Christian's suit up and catch AIDS quick!

OK LETS MIX EM UP AND SEE WHAT IT SAYS:

I TOOK WHAT IT I SAID ABOUT VARIOUS RELIGIONS FROM ONE OF THE LINKS ABOVE AND PUT IT ALL TOGETHER AS MANY SEEM TO SAY THE SAME THING!

On Purpose:

Only humans can help themselves and each other solve the world's problems.

The soul is eternal and essentially good. Purpose of life is to develop spiritually and draw closer to God.

to gain enlightenment.

Purpose is to avoid suffering and gain enlightenment

peace and harmony in each person and in the world. Salvation by "cultivating self and finding God in self."

Purpose is a favorable life and peaceful afterlife, attained through rituals

Humans have limitless potential, but do not always recognize this. Health and success can be had by focusing on whole self (mind, body, spirit).

"Each of us is Soul, a spark of God sent to this world to gain spiritual experience." Salvation is liberation and God-realization.

Humans must submit (islam) to the will of God to gain Paradise after death.

Obey God's commandments, live ethically. Focus is more on this life than the next.

Humans are pure by nature and can keep away evil through purification rituals and attain good things by calling on the kami.

Overcome the self, align life with will of God, and become a "saint soldier," fighting for good.

happiness, achieved by virtue, i.e., living reasonably.

inner harmony, peace, and longevity. Acheived by living in accordance with the Tao.

"If it harms none, do what you will."

Humans are free to do good or evil, must choose the side of good.

On God:

One God, who has revealed himself progressively through major world religions.

monism - God or Supreme Reality pervades all things; all is unity

One God. No Trinity

One Creator God. Reason is basis for all knowledge.

The Divine Spirit, called "ECK"

One Supreme Reality (Brahman)

One God (Allah in Arabic)

One God, Jehovah. No Trinity -

One God, Yahweh.

One God (Ik Onkar, Nam)

Pantheism: the logos pervades the universe.

Pantheism - the Tao pervades all. Yin-yang - opposites make up a unity.

also a belief in a Supreme Being over all

One God, Ahura Mazda (Wise Lord)

On Afterlife:

Valhalla (heaven) for death in battle; Hel (peaceful place) for most; Hifhel (hell) for the very evil.

Soul separates from the body and begins a journey towards or away from God. Heaven and hell are states of being.

Judgment, then reincarnation or temporary hell until gain a Buddhist-type paradise.

Eternal heaven or hell (or temporary purgatory).

Heaven is "not a locality, but a divine state of Mind in which all the manifestations of Mind are harmonious and immortal."

Beliefs varied from no afterlife to shadowy existence in the underworld to a paradise-like afterlife (mainly in mystery religions).

Paradise or Hell.

Not historically emphasized. Beliefs vary from no afterlife to shadowy existence to the World to Come (similar to heaven).

merge with God.

Revert back to state of non-being, which is simply the other side of being.

Judgement followed by heaven or hell.

On Practices:

Sacrifice of food or drink, toast to the gods, shamanism (less frequently), celebration of solstice holidays. Nine Noble Virtues is moral code.

Daily prayer, avoidance of intoxicants, scripture reading, hard work, education, work for social justice and equality.

Meditation on mandalas and Tibetan deities, astrology, monastic life.

Daily prayer. Meditation.

worship, prayer, longevity practices

Spiritual healing through prayer and knowledge

Honesty, politeness, propriety, humaneness

Spiritual Exercises of ECK: mantras, meditation, and dreams. These enable Soul travel and spiritual growth.

Pursue the highest pleasures (friendship and tranquility) and avoid pain.

Five exercises to strengthen the Falun. Cultivation of truthfulness, benevolence and forbearance.

Asceticism, celibacy

Yoga, meditation, worship (puja), devotion to a god or goddess, pilgrimage to holy cities, live according to one's dharma (purpose/ role).

Monasticism under the Five Great Vows (Non-Violence, Truth, Celibacy, Non-Stealing, Non-Possessiveness); worship at temples and at home. Meditation and mantras.

Worship and offerings to kami at shrines and at home. Purification rituals.

Prayer and meditation on God's name

Ethical and philosophical training, self-reflection, careful judgment and inner calm.

General attitude of detachment and non-struggle, "go with the flow" of the Tao. Tai-chi, acupuncture, and alchemy to help longevity.

Prayer

Good deeds, charity, equality, hard work...

So All of the Above can be found in one religion though these were pasted from its facts about a number of various religions, majority say the SAME thing with the SAME idea.

To Put it simply, religion on average and in general teaches us that:

Life is about Gaining Enlightenment and Knowledge, To be Happy and Avoid Pain and suffering, To have a favorable life and do what you must to have a peaceful afterlife, to submit and become one with the will of God, obeying God's commandments and living ethicallly, live reasonably, find God within, do what is right, avoid what is wrong, do what you will so as not to harm yourself or others, you have a choice to do right or wrong but choose right for your betterment.

That there is one God that pervades all things, an Ultimate Reality that goes by many names and has been appearing throughout history in various religions around the world.

That life is about living well, avoiding suffering, being happy, finding enlightenment through knowledge, meditation, prayer, submission, ritual, that a good life lived right leads to a good afterlife, a bad life out of balance with God and one self and in disharmony leads to a bad afterlife.

That there is a kind of judgement in which ones life and deeds is reflected back on them.

It is one Message, it can be found properly in one book.
