The guy who I work with is a baptist preacher and a youth minister. He smoke weed, pops pills, drinks, and who knows what else. Do you guys feel this is wrong?
Yes. The fucker should be setting an example and trying his hardest to follow the Bible if he is a truly religious person.
All humans are not perfect, but he should at least TRY to give up drugs and get by without them. Saying you're weak and can't handle being without is bullshit, you're just not trying hard enough.
He's sinning, abusing his body and mistreating it.

Ditch all role models and become your own. That's the safest bet.

Sounds like Digital Savior. She's always calling people names and she always gives stabs under water, and when you ask why she says "I SHOULD be a good christian, but I'm only human". How convenient http://www.totse.com/bbs/rolleyes.gif (http://www.totse.com/bbs/rolleyes.gif)

It's too bad that not only the wisest follow their own direction. So do those who are not so wise.
Lol let him do what he likes. What's it to you?
"Ditch all role models and be your own"
Thats a nice idea but what does one base their action on, it is part of human development to have role models (accepted or not accepted in title, they do exist, if they don't the kid ends up retardooo).

If I am correct in my assumption that this is a direct reference to Nictzsche and his Thus spake Zarathustra, why would you care.
This old saint in the forest hath not yet heard of it, that God is dead!
how much can you trust the teachings from someone who doesn't follow them?

this boggles my mind how he can believe the way he does yet still feel that it is wrong yet still do the same thing over and over. I am definitely not perfect and I will answer for plenty but it is him being in the position that he is in which mostly bothers me.

So if you don't do illicit drugs, as she does, and are a liberal, then that can't be between you and God. It's unnatural!
This is hilarious. Keep in mind that she does drugs while reading this:
quote:

6:52:34 PM desiredhush: Skeletons are things people are ashamed of.
6:52:40 PM desiredhush: I am who I am because of my triumphs and mistakes.
6:52:51 PM desiredhush: If I hadn't been through what I have, I couldn't be as logical as I am now.
6:52:58 PM desiredhush: People think I am insane, but I am a realist.
6:53:06 PM desiredhush: And my realism comes from having had a hard life.
6:53:21 PM desiredhush: I don't care who believes me and who doesn't, but I won't stand around silent while people ruin their lives.

It shouldn't matter what drugs he takes, as long as he remains faithful to his religion. I'm not sure, but I don't think god/jesus ever said it was wrong to get intoxicated. I think modern day society see drugs as wrong, and use Christianity to keep people from indulging in them by claiming them to be a sin.

This guy took an oath! In that oath he agreed to stay away from that kind of shit, if he still planned to do them, why take the oath?
Wrong for a baptist preacher.
Not for me!!

I love it myself. He must too. I figure this has been a life long thing for him. I guess old habits are hard to break.

I really should do more more research on Nietzsche. I don't know exactly what to think of some of his writings but I have read exerpts and I want to find a book that I can read before I head to the sack.
