I've been hearing a lot of things about Jesus coming back, and everything, and the world ending, is this going to happen in this generation of life? Post what you have gathered, this is a serious question, I would enjoy it if there weren't any cocky remarks or anything. Thanks.

Christians have being thinking Jesus was coming back since they think he first came. The first Christians thought it would be in there life time. If you ask me its just the plot to get more members.

According to wikiepdia Islam thinks there Jesus could come in the next 20 years.

Jews have a specific year for Jesus, 2240.

Mayans get more specific with the end of the world late 2012 late December 2012.

And Jehovah witness said the world was going to end in about a dozen times.

Nice happy wikiapdiea artical on this sort of thing htt p://en.wik ipedia.org /wiki/Esch atology. (http: //en.wikip edia.org/w iki/Eschat ology.)

Why would Jesus come back? The Qur'an does not support belief in any messianic return of people but that Jesus was a regular human being for the most part and will rise when ever other human being rises on the day of Judgement. No one knows when the day of Judgement could be, it could be tommorow it could be in a billion years, but for the person who dies, when they raise up it will seem like they had only fallen asleep for a few hours even if it had been millions of years.

After the conversion of Christians into Islam, Christian Converts quickly began to include old traditions and beliefs into Islam, integrating them into the Hadiths that they began to author, these were stories of Muhammed, his supposed sayings (though written by no one who knew him nor had met him centuries after his death). In the Hadiths it is included that there is some kind of Mehdi figure who appears to defeat the anti Christ and the Return of Jesus occurs, these are based of Christian ideas which are not AT ALL supported by the Qur'an.

The Qur'an says Judgement day will occur instants and when no one expects it, indicating it will be in a time when corruption is widespread as it was during the time the Qur'an was written, and before.

The Hadiths say Judgement day occurs after the Muslims have conquered the Earth and everyone is good. This is based on a misinterpretation and misreading of the Qur'an which says that AFTER Judgement day, the righteous will inheret the Earth (Earth 2). That after Judgement day the Earth, a spacious and beautiful, plentiful Earth will be the home of the righteous, Paradise, and for the evil doers there will be hell.

The Qur'an also mentions that some people believe that Hell will be temporary and say "The fire will only touch us for a while" and that they are wrong and that hell is lasting.

The Hadiths claim that Hell is Temporary and some Muslims even believe that they will be exposed to hell for the sins they did in Earth.

The Qur'an says that for a righteous and good person, who spent their life being good, and asked forgiveness for sins and transgressions, they will be forgiven and given Paradise in the afterlife, that they will not be exposed to the hell fire.

The Qur'an and the Hadiths are not entirely compatible, most Muslims tend to have a greater knowledge of the sayings in the Hadith than that of the Qur'an. The Qur'an is the only true book of Islam.

To answer your question, whenever judgement day arrives shouldn't be as of much concern as when your death arrives, which could be in 70 years.

The world has ceased to exist the past 14 billion or however many years, so the probabilitiy of it ending in OUR lifetime has about the same chance of someone winning the powerball 3 times in one year.

I think people thinking the world will come to an end 'soon' is just a purely egotistical statement. But hey, most people also think this world is here for them to dominate and animals are here for them to slaughter and eat. Literally, people believe these things exist for OUR PURPOSE. But then again, what else would people that believe we have only been around for 10,000 years believe.

Wikipedia cites Qur'an 43.61 which reads

"And (Jesus) shall be a Sign (for the coming of) the Hour (of Judgment): therefore have no doubt about the (Hour), but follow ye Me: this is a Straight Way"

And some thing about Jesus saying he is not the son of God.

Not necessarily messianic but still back and a sing of judgment day.

According to wikipedie the according to various other books jesus will come back and fight the Antichrist.

Nothing is cited about the next 20 years prediction.

On a different note

A great link that shows hundreds end of days predictions made 2800 BC to the future. http://www.abhota.info/

If the world is going to end in the next 70 years, I wouldn't worry about it. Any person living now would have a decent life if they lived 70 years. People should go on about there daily lives. Follow whatever religion they follow, and lead a good life.

The revelation 43.61 doesn't even mention Jesus...

043.061

And lo! verily there is knowledge of the Hour. So doubt ye not concerning it, but follow Me. This is the right path.

043.061

And most surely it is a knowledge of the hour, therefore have no doubt about it and follow me: this is the right path.

Jesus is mentioned just a moment after that, talking about his life, it never mentions any return, the translator Yusufali strangely inserted ( ) based on Hadith apparently.

The Koran does not predict any future, it simply lays out how its followers should live.

I wouldn't sweat it. When the world ends, the world ends, and we won't be any the wiser.

There is no end as there was no beginning. Time is a measure of reference. Existence is not relative like time, it is constant. The only way worlds end are when they accumulate enough mass that the universal pull around them becomes so great that they collapse upon themselves and become black stars to black holes.

If there is a Creator, the Creator has a different concept of time than us. We can reference it to say something began or ended temporally. The Creator would have no concept of this. Time to the Creator is just an entity in constant existence. Thus, there is no beginning or end. There is just our simple perception we make up so we can pretend to understand what we can't.

Certain groups of people have predicted jesus would come back about 6 times in the past 200 years. Guess what the world is still here. Each year came and went without the end of the world.

The world has had it's share of conflicts.

The Cold War seemed like a great opportunity for an apocalypse, but it still didn't happen.

MY world had better end within the next 70 years, I cook food for old people and the 90+ people do not lead good lives....

As for the rest of the world, humans would have to do something pretty impressive the kill all life and destroy the entire planet, so the world will probably go on like it has for the last few billion(?) years.

After reading this, i decided to be more specific with my answer....I dont think the world will end, but i think society as we know and understand it will. same answer though, 2012 and all.

I believe this website gives an interesting view on why the Mayan calender stopped in the winter of 2012.

h ttp://www. levity.com /eschaton/ Why2012.html (http: //www.levi ty.com/esc haton/Why2 012.html)

Hell, I figure calender companies only put out calenders a year or two ahead... the Mayans just seemed to have went all out and just published a calender 5125 years out.

And on that same note, the Mayans didn't say the world was going to end, the calender just stopped, right? Doesn't that mean the whole doomsday theory was created in post-Mayan modern day thinking?

I would be more worried about Peak oil in the next 70 years, and in 2012 specifically, we're supposed to start over the "Olduvai cliff", but I think the original prediction may have been inaccurate. It will come though.

People has been speculating since the dawn of time about it's arrival. I can say only this.

"If it be now, 'tis not to come; if it be not to come, it will be now; if it be not now, yet it will come: the readiness is all."

The world is not going to end in one big fireball like they show on tv it will happen over a period of time. This period of time has already started with global warming and wars your estimate of 70 years could very well be correct so i guess there is your time frame try do everything you have ever wanted to do because you have 70 years.
