I'm not a pentacostal(sp) but I used to believe that laying of hands and speaking in tongues were very real. However, my church doesn't believe in that, and I didn't know that until recently. They say no one can really speak in tongues because it was a gift by apostles, and now that all the apostles are dead, the gift is too. But I have seen people speak in tongues, and I've seen laying of hands, and it seemed real. Now I don't know what to believe? Does anybody else have ideas?

I believe in the power of the mind and that if people really believe that something will cure them and someone believes they can really cure someone, there's a good possibility for it to work. But, that's just a personal belief. I think this is something you're going to have to decide on your own.

When you speak in tounges isn't everyone suposed to be able to understand you no matter what language they speak? That was the impression I got from the Bible.

Haha, if you have come looking for Christian advice it is in the wrong area my friend and brother/sister (sorry i do not know which). The speaking of toungues and laying on of hands can be very real gifts. Paul argued though that the speaking of toungues was a gift to be kept to yourself because it did not edify the church unless there was an interpreter. Therefore I wouldnt worry to much about the speaking in toungues for it is better to edify the church. Laying on of hands could happen as well. Remember that no gift is dead, for they are all in Gods hands and he has the power to give and to take away, so it is a bold claim that any Church could say that a gift is dead, for it is not for them to decide.

I believe your church like every other temple of control is tying to limmit your potential and desire as a human being.
Stop being such a pussy and talk in tongues if you want to.

So neither of those gifts had anything to do with the apostles? okay, I think I get it now.
