This morning at 07:00 jackketch got ripped out of the sweet arms of Morpheus and was rudely awakened by a a clap of thunder that literally shook the house, followed by what i thought might even be a direct lightening strike.
I remember as a kid/teen there were 'proper' thunder storms...rolling across the north german plains and shaking the ground. But the last few years the thunder storms here in england seem to be real lame...like the lightening needs crutches to get it out of the cloud.Maybe it's Global Warming?
Anyways this morning's was a real beaut.
I should explain that when i awake i am sub human, almost neanderthal. Only the limbic part of my brain functions (ie piss-ciggy-coffee-fart-shag..in that order). But this storm was so violent that suddenly i felt something else. Took me a second to realise what it was. It was straight forward primeval FEAR.
Fear isn't an emotion i tend to suffer from a lot and my 21st century brain is well aware that the storm was the result of -/+ ions blah blah blah
BUT
For a fleeting moment i felt what my ancestors must have felt. Suddenly i could understand why my forebears worshipped nautre 'gods' and partied nekkid down at the 'World Tree'.
Seems despite the 'Age Of Reason',under all that sophistication there is still something of the pagan in modern man!
