View Full Version : And Thor was pissed at me...

This morning at 07:00 jackketch got ripped out of the sweet arms of Morpheus and was rudely awakened by a a clap of thunder that literally shook the house, followed by what i thought might even be a direct lightening strike.

I remember as a kid/teen there were 'proper' thunder storms...rolling across the north german plains and shaking the ground. But the last few years the thunder storms here in england seem to be real lame...like the lightening needs crutches to get it out of the cloud.Maybe it's Global Warming?

Anyways this morning's was a real beaut.

I should explain that when i awake i am sub human, almost neanderthal. Only the limbic part of my brain functions (ie piss-ciggy-coffee-fart-shag..in that order). But this storm was so violent that suddenly i felt something else. Took me a second to realise what it was. It was straight forward primeval FEAR.

Fear isn't an emotion i tend to suffer from a lot and my 21st century brain is well aware that the storm was the result of -/+ ions blah blah blah

BUT

For a fleeting moment i felt what my ancestors must have felt. Suddenly i could understand why my forebears worshipped nautre 'gods' and partied nekkid down at the 'World Tree'.

Seems despite the 'Age Of Reason',under all that sophistication there is still something of the pagan in modern man!

I have to agree with you on the thunderstorms thing, I remember growing up to some really vicious storms, but in the past 10 years or so, we've only really had maybe one storm that actually shook the house to the point of 'holy shit!'

That said, I am still a pagan! Although I don't dance naked...

I knew there was something I was forgetting to add.

Last night, I was watching this show about feral children. It basically showed that humans will develop to act however they are brought up. It showed these children who act like dogs and can't speak because of their being raised by dogs. It is something like after 3 years of age, one doesn't develop the proper linguistic abilities in the brain to ever speak a sentence.

So what is my point? Well we are obviously much more primitive than we like to accept. In fact, it makes one wonder how exactly the first people ever really started acting human.

No i guess not...the english climate tends to limit the amount of al fresco nekkid dancing any sane person might want to do.

(had to be a horned god type fertility symbol when you've shrivelled down to a 1/2"!)

Well, last time lightning struck near my house the lamp above me exploded in a shower of sparks. Actualy some of the copper wire above in the cord vaporized creating a splash of sparks, but it was damn cool.

Of course after the initial holy hell, and scramble to see if anything was on fire, I had no real inclination to worship pagan gods. Sorry for being hopelessly rational.

There was an urge to dance naked, however, there was no particular need to dance for some higher deity.
