A Christian man is recovering from a beating that left him with a broken collarbone and dislocated shoulder after he drank water from a glass reserved for the poor at a construction site in Pakistan.
The report comes from Voice of the Martyrs, the Christian aid organization with a vision for working around the world to help those who are facing persecution for their Christian faith.
The report said Nasir Ashraf, a Christian stonemason, was working on the construction of a room at a school near Manga Mandi outside of Lahore when he got thirsty and took a break.
"He drew water and drank from a glass chained to a cemented public water tank next to a mosque, which was reserved for 'all' poor people," the VOM report said. "Returning to the construction site, a Muslim man asked him, 'Why did you drink water from this glass since you are a Christian?'"
The man then accused Nasir of polluting the glass, yanked the glass off the iron chain, broke it and threw it in a garbage can.
He also summoned other militant Muslims nearby.
"This man polluted our glass," he told them.
The result was an incensed mob that beat Nasir, yelling that a "Christian dog" drank from their glass.
Bystanders encouraged the beating, because it would be a "good" deed that would help them in heaven, the report said.
"The attackers pushed Nasir off a ledge onto the ground, and the fall dislocated his shoulder and broke his collarbone in two places," the VOM report said.
He was unconscious until he was taken to a clinic, the report said, and the physician who said some people had brought him in also told him never to make that mistake again.
Nasir's father took him home and a VOM representative was alerted so that VOMedical could help with his medical treatment and recovery, officials said.
VOM was launched by Rev. Richard Wurmbrand, who wrote "Tortured for Christ" about his experiences representing Christ in war-torn Europe. His testimony, and ministry's work, has spread around the globe.

Still another example of the harm done by the myth of "better."
No state, person, religion, gender, or race is better than any other.

Gunmen behead Sudanese editor
KHARTOUM: The chief editor of a Sudanese independent daily who provoked a furore by publishing an article denounced as blasphemous was found dead a day after being abducted by unknown gunmen, police said yesterday. A group of masked gunmen abducted Mohammed Taha Mohammed Ahmed, the editor-in-chief of Al-Wifaq, from his home in the east of Khartoum late Tuesday. His body was found in another part of the city a day later, said a spokesman for the Interior Ministry, speaking on condition of anonymity because he was not authorised to speak to the media.
In May 2005, scores of Sudanese gathered in front of the capital's courthouse demanding a death sentence for Ahmed for insulting Islam's prophet, by republishing an article from the Internet that questioned the parentage of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The Al-Wifaq daily was fined 8,000,000 Sudanese pounds (about US$3,200) for the outcry it prompted in this conservative African Muslim nation. Ahmed refuted the blasphemy charges and apologized in a letter to the press saying he did not intend to insult the prophet. The article angered Muslims of different sects. The newspaper was temporarily suspended by the government. Rehab Taha Mohammed Ahmed, the brother of the slain journalist, said that he had been informed about his brother's killing by the police who had asked him to identify the corpse in the city morgue. "We are now still waiting for the corpse's arrival to see whether it was Mohammed or not," the brother said. Blasphemy and insulting Islam can bring the death penalty in Sudan, which has been governed by strict Islamic Sharia law since 1983.
Meanwhile, Sudanese security forces fired tear gas and beat people yesterday protesting against price increases for basic goods and a journalist was found beheaded in a further sign of rising political tensions. The protests were organised despite calls for national unity from President Omar Hassan Al-Bashir as Khartoum faces off with the international community over its refusal to allow a United Nations peacekeeping force into the war-torn Darfur region. Riot police closed ranks in Khartoum's main streets to block any gatherings of protesters, who vowed they would not stop until their democratic right to protest peacefully was granted. "Today we intend to deliver our statement to the presidential palace," said Mariam Al-Mahdi, spokeswoman of the Umma Party, one of the largest opposition groups. She was later arrested along with around nine other senior party officials.
Before her own arrest, Mahdi said she saw at least seven man arrested in the centre of Khartoum. In another part of the city the body of a Sudanese newspaper editor was found beheaded, a day after he was reported snatched by unknown armed men from outside his home in the capital. Mohamed Taha was an ally of the government, which took power in a military coup in 1989. But protesters who gathered at the morgue where his body was taken accused Khartoum of doing too little to protect a man whose views had been condemned by Sudan's powerful Islamists. The government has imposed strict Sharia law in northern Sudan but has been opposed by some Islamist groups. "Resign, minister, resign minister!" people in a crowd of about 200 shouted after Interior Minister Al-Zubeir Bashir Taha and Defence Minister Abdel Rahim Mohamed Hussein emerged from viewing the body and visiting Taha's relatives. Reporters at the morgue, which was guarded by heavily armed police, said they feared for the future of journalism in Sudan.
Last week, riot police fired teargas at earlier protests against recent increases in the prices of goods like petrol and sugar, imposed to fill a hole in the 2006 budget. Most of Sudan's opposition parties support a UN mission for Darfur, where a 3 1/2 year conflict has killed tens of thousands of people and forced 2.5 million from their homes. But the government rejects last week's Security Council resolution to deploy more than 20,000 UN troops and police to Darfur to take over from a cash-strapped African Union mission. It has roused nationalist sentiment, calling the UN transition a Western invasion that would attract jihadi militants and accusing Washington of attempting regime change. Mahdi said officials accused demonstrators of inciting sedition and supporting an "external plot" against Sudan. Western diplomats say the government is on the defensive. "This is not about national sovereignty but about the survival of this government which created the Darfur crisis and cannot find a way out," said one envoy. Critics say the government fears UN troops would be used to arrest any officials or militia likely to be indicted by the International Criminal Court investigating alleged war crimes. "Would you sign your own death warrant?" asked Ghazi Suleiman, a human rights lawyer and member of parliament. --Reuters

I want to post this, and I ask that it be read, twice please. Once when posted, then again after being read.
Luke 5:17 And it came to pass on a certain day, as he was teaching, that there were Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting by, which were come out of every town of Galilee, and Judaea, and Jerusalem: and the power of the Lord was present to heal them.
The pharisees, were the ones who crucified Jesus. The ones that Jesus loved. The ones that should have knew Him, had a knowledge of Him, and loved their traditions more than Him. They should have knew Him, when He came, but they didn't. Their hearts were hardened to Him. He knew that He would be crucified by them, yet His power was present to HEAL THEM.
I showed my sister, a baby in Christ, that headline. Both of us have read Voice of the Martyrs by D.C. Talk. I wanted it to become a reality to her, that it still continues, it's not HISTORY, it's present day. She said, "They beat him for drinking water." I said, "No, they beat Him for following Christ."
That man, beaten for loving Christ, would endure that over and over again. The world doesn't understand what we're willing to endure on account of the Gospel. If only to win one man over to the kingdom of God.
Jesus did. Paul did. John did. Polycarp did. Peter did. There are too many to be named that did, and too many to be named that are. Too many to be named that will.
Fellow believers, pray for the gospel to have free course. Pray for those in the faith with us. Pray so much, your knees have callouses.
I love you ALL, with His love, in me.
Yeah, you Christians are so terribly persecuted. You only completely dominate the most powerful nation on Earth, (in spite of the fact that you're not allowed by law to do that) and use it to extend your will all over the globe.
Cry me a river; you people are not the underdog, and you haven't been for 2000 years.

One thing i've always been taught despite whatever my religion may be is to never knock anyone for wrong for one of these three reasons solely, which is for race, riches or religion.
Now if the man did it on spite to annoy them so & did not present himself to truly make a statement of apology for not knowing any better beforehand, then I can see them screwing him up.Beyond that though, the man's in the wrong if that's not what occured.

The Pharisees didn't believe he was the real messiah. How would you feel if some man started a cult based on Christianity and disobeyed teachings in the bible, claiming to be the messiah? Would you believe him? You can't judge them as the "mean old pharisees". To them, Jesus was a heretic. Would you think any different about A person starting a cult based around Christianity and claiming to be the messiah, like I described above?
Jesus didn't fulfil the prophecies that the messiah was supposed to fulfil. He disobeyed Jewish teachings and broke the law of the Sabbath. They had no reason to believe he really was the messiah.
Example: "Jesus went through the grainfields on the Sabbath. His disciples were hungry and began to pick some heads of grain and eat them. When the Pharisees saw this, they said to him, `Look! Your disciples are doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath." - Matthew 12:1-12.
