Last year when i went on some school camp at some farm, there was this guy visiting who had a strong beleif and interest in Noah's Ark....He believes this story is true ...My God how could you beleive such rubbish...he reckons hes got proof but its all bullshit. He seems to believe it landed on some mountain but has no excuse for the lack of remains...

There was this group of fundamentalists having a meeting, and people asked him how animals like penguins got down to where ever he was, so that he could load them up. The fundamentalists said- no joke- that they had proof flying dinosaurs went up to those areas and carried them back to Noah.

All indigenous races throughout the world have a great flood story.

Fact.

In my opinion, matters such as this come down to faith and/or wanting to not think about things.

I'm an Anglican, I beleive in the new testament, the old testament, not so much.

If this guy wants to beleive that, is he hurting you?

No? let him be

Yes? Stop this bible man trying to put his animals in your boat.

How can you believe in the new and not the old? The old is the new's foundation. Religious people astound me.

A little thing called "suspension of disbelief".

No, but I have something against blatant stupidity and denying outright facts. http://www.totse.com/bbs/smile.gif (http://www.totse.com/bbs/smile.gif)

Actually, years ago they found what they believe was Noah's ark at the bottom of a trench in (I think) the Dead Sea. I could be wrong about what sea it was. Of course there's no definite way to tell if this is, in fact, the ark but various clues would suggest. It's incredibly massive - I mean, it was twice the size of a barge. And it had lots of Hebraic carvings and lots of carvings of various animals on it. The reason it was preserved as well as it was was due to the lack of oxygen and salinity at the abyss, but carbon dating does date it back to that supposed time. However there was no way to tell how it sunk.

In short? Believing in Noah's ark isn't stupid. It's just what they call a leap of faith.

Cheers,

Lost

Naw, I definitely wasn't saying its stupid to believe in Noah's Ark. I just dislike the fundamentalists and their crazy theories. (What I was referencing before.) And maybe I'm wrong also, but didn't they already find Noah's Ark on two different mountains?

Well seeing as the Ark is supposed to have rested on Mount Ararat according to the bible, it's safe to say that what was found in the Dead Sea wasn't the Ark ( I hadn't even heard of a ship resembling the Ark being found there); unless of course the bible was flawed...

As for "stupidity", beliving in the story of Noah as fact should be the definition of stupidity. If not that, then what ? This isn't just a leap of faith, it is the complete abandonement of the scientific method and the necessity of evidence, in order to hold on to a ridiculous belief.

If that doesn't qualify as "stupidity", then allow me to make a "leap of faith" to claim that god and I have conversed numerous times and he agrees with me.

Abandoning rational thought hurts all of humanity, because idiots like that guy add up and start taking over countries.

If it WAS all true, it is definitely super-exagerrated. (Like most of the Bible is.) Was there a flood? Yeah, probably. Did Noah built a massive boat, big enough for his family and 2 of every animal? Probably not. Did it spread out over the earth and drown all the baaaad people? Definitely not.
