View Full Version : What Convinces You That Your Faith Is Reality?
This is a question that I'm sure has been asked several times on here before, but I haven't seen one, so I guess it's been a while. I do hope some Christians reply to this topic, as it's the religion I know the most about, but I would appreciate and enjoy replies from any Muslims, Jews, or anybody else as well.
Simple question. Being a logical and reasoning human-being, what actually convinces you that your religion is the true history of the world and how it came to exist and/or the true nature of reality (which an all powerfull being reigns over us)? This is really directed towards people who have knowledge of their religion's history, but if your only evidence is a "feeling" or some sort of unexplainable experience, feel free to leave some feedback as well.
((And I'm sure this goes unsaid, but I'm not counting Buddhism as a religion, because it doesn't claim there is a God, or that they know his nature or the history of how the world came into being.))

To be honest I'm not exactly sure, my faith in god is something in my mind, God's prescence is just felt.
I question this as just a phsycological tendancy of my brain due to my catholic upbringing, but i can't shake it.
I haven't encountered an article that has made me feel empty, lonely and godless. (in regards to a pro-atheist text).
Not relying on the bible for accuracy, but this kind of makes me think the subconscious prescene of god I feel is natural and justified.
I hope that answered your question and makes sense,
I'm really tired.
Being a Sikh i cannot say that our history is the true history of the world and how it came to exist in the same way as many monotheistic and theistic religions would as Sikhi is only around a few hundred years old. Having many religions before means i cannot realy answer that first one, maybe some SIkh scholar would but not me
I just feel Sikhism is a religion which makes most sense to be honest, so does Buddhism apart frm the belief in not universal creator as in God. Everything we are asked to follow is questioned by many and even i did but whenever i go out and do my research i realise that it is Sikhi which goes closest hand in hand with proven science and seems to make much more sense than many other things and rituals other religions follow such as Hinduism etc.
As for experiences many people have has such high spiritual experiences which have told them its the right religion but as for me all ican realy say is the feeling inside me when im just meditating on Gods name with a few more people or a whole room ful of Sikhs. Just an unexplainable feeling realy. There isnt anything else i can realy do to feel that way.
ok yh i babbled on and probz not to the question lol
So, does the fact that there are so many religions in which people say they "feel" their God's presence make you doubt? There can't be more than one God, so do you think that all of these other people are "feeling" something false that they are confusing with a "God"?
deffinetly not
Sikhi teaches that there is only one God but has many names by people of other religions, Waheguru, Ram,Allah,Jehovah..... Its all the same power but by many names. Every religion is a path to God but some get you there faster than other. At one point every religion was pure but over the years people have altered religions to their own suitability or desires, Even those who say have never changed it have somewhere along the lines.
If others feel something or have experiences being a part of another religion then maybe that is the right religion for them. It wouldnt crop up questions or doubts in my mind as i know i couldnt ever want to be living any different life style but the one now, and i wouldnt want to be a part of any religion but the one i am a part of now and feel this is the right path fo rme
