Someone shed some light, if you are able. Why do christians, in all forms, worship idols (the crucifix, statues of mary, jesus, ect...)if it is completely contradictory of the second commandment? Is this religion really that fake?

The commandment says "thou shall worship no false idols before me" or some shit like that. techinically these idols or statues or what have you are symbols of either gods power or god himself. at least thats my take on it. however your right in saying that theyre a bunch of hypocrits.

I know that jesus and the crucifix may be, however, Mary isnt. Plus, angels arent incarnations of god yet they are worshiped.

They aren't put BEFORE God, though.
People don't say the Virgin Mary has more power than the Almighty, or that St. Whoever and Mr. Angel answer to no one.
God's still known as the highest.

It's not so much of worship as it is reverence.

So reverence is acceptable but worship is a nono. Makes sense. Although some people pretty heavily workship that bleeding statue of mary and she does heal, apparently. This would put her on the same level as God, in a sense.
But then again, if there was a bleeding, healing statue of jesus, christians would probably prefer to go to him over mary.
I dont think many statues of the christian god are made tho.

But her power is given to her by God, because she is righteous.

Do not look to Christians for logic.
For instance, many of them claim to be "pro-life" yet agree that the state should have the power to kill people convicted of committing certain crimes.

The belief that executing a criminal is different than killing a baby is fairly widespread and not restricted to Christians.

there. Fixed
EDIT: not to mention, God isn't Pro-life considering how he ordered pregnant women killed and the babies cut out.

First of all, we all must remember that Christians are hypocrics in most all regards. They lay out all these rules that no human could possibly follow and then tell you the only way you're getting to heaven is to join them and ask for forgivness.
There is one point that they tend to forget. As the famous saying goes, "we're the same you and I..." And we are, Christians and non-religious people, that is. The only difference is that Christians and other religious people go to a worship service every week to make them feel good and/or bad about themselves before they go out and do the same old bad shit. Poeple like me, on the other hand, just skip the guilt-tripping shit and go right on to the three B's. So why not simply say fuck-off to those two hours of misery and get on to whatever shit you're on all the quicker without the guilt-trip?

No body can follow God's law, and nobody has ever went straight to heaven except Jesus Christ, but by doing your best to obey the One True Church you can lessen your stay in purgatory.
You need to understand life on earth is all preparation for purgatory. So by begging for mercy and forgiveness here, you will be absolved of sin, faster in purgatory. Indeed, a wise man once contemplated sinning and repenting AT THE SAME TIME, but I don't recommend these advanced techniques to neophytes.

First of all (for those who don't know) the commandment mentioned is
"Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me. And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments."
This means that you cannot worship images of "saints", Mary, or even of Jesus himself at all. In fact you cannot even make such images. (I also always wondered if the line about water means you can't draw a picture of a fish http://www.totse.com/bbs/smile.gif (http://www.totse.com/bbs/smile.gif) .) You might also note the line about visting vengence upon third and fourth generations (my isnt this a just and loving god).
Seond, how do you define reverence, I would certainly consider praying to a saint or the virgin Mary to be worship.
Third of all, to Issue313: Only the crazy Catholics believe in purgatory. Its not in the bible. Not even the other Christian sects beleive that. Out of all the Christians, Catholics must be the most hypocritical, because they don't even try to use the bible. They just pull stuff out of the pope's ass. (By the way, stop with the "One True Church" shit)
