If everything really WAS created, then who created God? http://www.totse.com/bbs/smile.gif (http://www.totse.com/bbs/smile.gif)

And who created the thing that created God?

I'll ask him when I see him.

That's the answer my mum actually gave me when I was younger. I took it seriously then, but now I realise it was just her covering up her own ignorance. "Well, you'll just have to wait till you die and ask God when you meet him. He'll know."

Nothing! The something that humans call 'god' must have existed forever because there cannot be nothing - 'absolute nothing' that is, as in 'non-existence' http://www.totse.com/bbs/biggrin.gif (http://www.totse.com/bbs/biggrin.gif) Therefore there must be something as there cannot be nothing and something cannot come from nothing ...... http://www.totse.com/bbs/rolleyes.gif (http://www.totse.com/bbs/rolleyes.gif)

Are you saying that God existed infinitely into the past?

Then you're a fool. If time went infinitely backwards, we could never reach this point. Please work on your math skills.

Right. Because god would have

waited forever before making us,

so we would have never been.

And, of course, that "10% of your brain" myth is just that - a myth. We use all of our brain.

ate

Of course that is a myth that we use all of our brain, we use only a portion.

Omnipotent being can do that. If God is omnopotent is another question.

In a way you are right, "I" only

actively make use of part of "my" brain.

But the rest is busy doing other things.

The brain isn't just for thought-

that's actually a pretty new addition.

The "I" is a subset of the brain, and

is controlled by the brain, not the

other way around.

That is assuming god is within the limits of time.

(which he is not)

it is pointless to argue logic with any devout christian when it comes to god because the christian belief is that god transcends logic. when you make in argument you have to understand the other sides stance on the issue as well, what i do to get practice for this in debate team is strike up an argument with someone, and take the side i dont agree with and still try to win, it can give you a whole new perspective on alot of things, and if you cant find someone to argue with argue with yourself in your head, it may sound stupid but it can help alot to know your enemy in a debate. give it a try.

If God can just exist, why can't the universe just exist? If the universe is completely composed of energy, that means it would move at the absolute speed of energy, not to be confused with speed of light. At that speed, time would stand still, and not even pass. So really, time is instant, meaning that no time passed before, after, or during the universe's expansion to collapse. Our observation of the passing of time has no signifigance to the actual speed of the universe, it is merely relative. We can't even be sure that time passes at the same rate person to person. Where does god fit into an instant universe of energy that has always existed?

Actually the universe is very much logical, and there are no signs of any intervention in the logical function of the universe.

the human brain is just a network of organic wires. the ability for the brain to have a "consciousness" is a miracle enough. if the chances of a bunch of wires being able to think for itself is a miracle, whats the chances of humans being able to comprehend ALL in the universe?

near impossible

Then he couldn't have created the universe--being able to interact with time implies being a part of it--you can't have it both ways.

Entheogenic

Is time only to do with the illusions of permanancy extant in a universe of form, whereas 95% of the universe, the dark energy, the dark matter, has no time -- for there is no form with which to measure it?

When you dream, how real are those dreams?

Is your thought able to transcend time? Have any of your dreams become a reality? How often does a dream become reality? like a novelist dreams up a book that becomes a movie, a dream being played out in real time by real actors.

What's the chances the universe is mind, a network of electrical signals with 'a "consciousness"?

Ok forget the questions about logic. Why is it YOUR god? Why isn't it Allah, the universe, infinity, zeus, etc? And don't for fucks sake quote the bible. The point is the things your saying can go for anything, you can't know for sure it's "god" as in the christian god if you mean "god" to be just a powerful force beyond our comprehension that could be anything then I agree with you. But you're obviously just answering with prewritten answers to stump any debate and to keep yourselves smug in the believe that your right and you have nothing to question.

In every thread you go on about nothing. So I ask you. Why does there need to be a God, for there to be something? Why can't the universe be that something that always existed? Without God?

Or is that what you are saying, I'm unclear as too whether you believe in God or not.

ate

^ Yea, he goes on about nothing.

Man. I'm so smart.

We're so smart. Let's go design the universe.
