Just an idea that popped up recently.

Assume that both heaven and hell exist as places where the sentient "soul" will reside after separation from the phyisical self. Now in all the art from the Dark Ages and the Renaissance, we see a clear cut difference in heaven and hell, where heaven is a place for the virtuous, accepting Christ as the saviour, where conversely, hell is the opposite.

What if heaven and hell were more similar than you think? Let me explain.

Archaic art ALWAYS depicts heaven as holy, but looking at this from a logically historic point of view, this seems incredibly BIASED, as though it was a form of "spiritual propaganda".

As you all know, the church was the most powerful organisation in the world in that period, and they have suppressed any forms of art and texts that even minutely praise the existence of hell, as though they have something to hide. By having more followers on who wish to blindly follow the so called "divine" and to restrict themselves, compared to the people who believe in freedom of doing what they find pleasurable (lust, gluttony, sloth, vanity).

This is very similar to the cold war, where the Warsaw pact was the restricter, and NATO were the supporters of individual freedoms. Propaganda on both sides exaggerated the ill qualities of their enemies and favorable qualities of themselves.

In a nutshell, im trying to say that what if hell isnt what people think it is, but just an over accused place that is different to the norm and suffering from gross bias.

it is impossible to find hard evidence to support this, but looking at other cases such as the cold war, historically speaking, the art and texts describing heaven and hell may be innaccurate and we have all been fooled for a long time.

Well, Churches are based on the Bible, and according to the Bible, Hell is bad.

Heaven and hell are myth and/or metaphor.

No such places.

Here's what I think....

When you die, you are sort of a free agent spirit....If you choose to, you can hang around and haunt earth, or wander the universe seeing what else is out there....Or, if you were a good christian, or a good person, you may be ALLOWED to enter heaven which would be divine and etc...

Or you could choose to enter hell. And I think you're right, it probably isn't the fire and brimstone which renaissance and medieval artwork/literature would have you believe.....It probably allows you to do all the fun/immoral shit you want......I'm sure eventually it takes a nasty turn and gets bad though.

also, God supposedly gave humans "Free Will". If we were put into an either/or situation between heaven/hell, with no other option....thats not exactly free will.

Alot of people do not belive in afterlife! Just total darkness just like before we were born for eternity after we die. This means we all are in Heaven and Hell right now at the same time where you sit untill the day we die. That means reality is as good as it gets untill Jesus returns. Congratulations! Jehova's belive in heaven on earth and that when we die we do not goto heaven or hell, and when Jesus returns he will resurrect the dead and build the Paradise Heaven right here on earth for everybody. For that to be possible we have to be in Heaven right now, The entire universe with the different plants, animals, insects, The sun, the moon, planets, stars, ect.

Think about it. A leader in the middle ages is deemed "holy" and therefore speaks the words of God. This leader says if you are obedient and a good citizen in life, you'll be happy after you are relieved of your skinbag you call human form.

It's a clever idea. Much like how Muslims think they'll go to heaven and have sex with virgins if they kill innocent people.

heaven and hell were around long before that

i had a relative.that died and went to heaven.god let him come back to straighten financial matters out with his family.he told his kids that there was nothing like it on earth and make sure they did not miss out on it.he died again 4 good two weeks later.

Even if we assume that Heaven and Hell were more or less exactly the same, for instance lets imagine that it is a giant ass forest with lots of plains and some badass buildings.

Even assuming this, with the assumption that one kind of people go to heaven and another goes to hell then hell would still be a fucked up place. Imagine all the fucked up people around. You'd have your average psycho and then your guy that paid too much to material tings and so fences off all the food from everyone else and demands some kind of tithe from people....

...Come to think about it... It seeems liek the normal world...
