totse i need religion in my life. Now don't judge me yet plz read this completely. I used to be christian, but after getting tired of being lied to i broke away. I'm at this point in my life where i miss the "control" religon had over my life. It's not that I would like every facet of my life controlled, just enough so that i have guidance. by the way I'm incredibly liberal. I support abortion, euthanasia, gay rights, womens rights etc,. I am open to pretty much any religion.

edit: I'm not asking for you to pick me a religion (well I am if it coincides with my existing beliefs) but, i want to know about religions and if they coincide then i may become a follower

That cuts down the pool of potential religions down by a good degree.

Mind If I ask you to elaborate on why you "need" a religion?

I'm just curious, how were you lied too? By your church, or the Bible itself? Because if it was your church, then why not just move on to another?

Personally, I think a religion should be something that hits you, that you shouldnt have to search for one.

I am agnostic because I have done research and feel like it best suits me, I suggest you do your research also.

Christianity is a beautiful religion and I encourage you to follow it, but if not, try Buddhism, another great way of life

Thats actually pretty smart. I don't see much point to this though, as the sun will be governed by the laws of physics no matter what. Then again, so will everything else.

Maybe you should just join a group. Political maybe. Get in a relationship. Things like that, and then if, and only if, you still feel the need for a religion, I guess I'd have to say Buddhism without the super natural beliefs. Pretty good rules to live by.

I don't know exactly why i "need" one i just feel incomplete without a strong belief system. I mean i have strong hope in science but, i just feel that there should be something more to our universe

The universe is an amazing thing. Theres alot more to it than you'd expect. More than religion could ever explain away. Read the book The Elegant Universe. Physics are amazing.

I still think you just need to experience life. Live, feel, be truely alive.

You want no lies? You want no religion.

Moreover, you want no politics, no government, no parents, no friends, no job, and no TV.

Everything is laced with lies. It's about finding a way to see through them in a way that doesn't make you hate yourself and everything around you.

as Frost said, either buddhism or sikhism. Buddhism is good because it tells you to live as a nice person without worshiping any god, yet you sound like the kind of person who believes in a higher being so sikhism is probably for you.

But out of the two i would have to say you should go with buddhism, because you can really take any aspects of it you want, for example you can believe that nirvana is a plain, a supernatural plain... what i mean is that you can still add supernatural elements to buddhism, it just depends on how you interpret things.

edit: spelling

Buddhism

Its not even so much a religion though, as it is a psychology, or way of life. Its all about being a good person, and learning the true way to absolute happiness.

ok well here's my story incase it helps..

I walk in alot of religious circles, used to be christian, best friends a muslim, and girlfriends a hippy ", (rasta.. watever ".)

I suggest you read the main text in each religion, i'v read the bagavad ghita (eastern philosophy) , the bible cover to cover.. hehe (sho..mission!), the koran, the world is sound (k so its not religious but its life), the tibetan book of the dead, taken acid once and toked up a heck of alot with rasta's...

So what i'v learnt this year is that:

all 'knowledge' is written by man, even if the people claiming to be writing it have connections with 'God'..

We are all eternal because God is eternal..

The only thing you can prove is the present.

AND IF YOU DON"T TAKE N E ADVICE AWAY FROM THIS TODAY REMEMBER >>>>

THERE ARE NO ANSWERS.. ONLY CHOICES.

You say you need a religion, so that makes me think you might belive in somthing bigger, somthing more....a good idea, IMO, would be agnostic, or an agnostic theist if you like, and just lightly study all the religions you can. Not just the surface stuff, the 'beliefs', but study the origins, the connections, the changes over the years, and definatly the dogma. Create your own belief structure based on what you find to be universally true, and denounce everything you find to be lies. Get intersted in it all...that is the only way your ever gonna find any truth about life and reality.

Just dont forget about science too. And keep in mind it has its own faults.

"Modern Liberals, With Some Exceptions, Are Fascists. They Preach Peace At The Expense Of

Liberty, Diversity At The Expense Of Common Sense, Equality At The Expense Of Fairness And

Choice At The Expense Of Life. They Are The First To Speak About Rights, Yet They Seek To

Deny You Yours If You Disagree With Them. They Vociferate The Importance Of Free Speech,

Yet Do Everything In Their Power To Stifle Yours. They Demonize The Very System Which

Allows Them The Freedom To Criticize In The First Place, And They Are The Last People In

Line When It Comes To Defending The One Country On Earth That Would Ever Tolerate Their

Hypocrisy. They Are Divisive, Immoral And Utterly Incapable Of Understanding Why Everything

I Just Wrote Is The Truth." - Edward L. Daley

"Activism is a way for useless people to feel important, even if the consequences of their

activism are counterproductive for those they claim to be helping and damaging to the

fabric of society as a whole." - Thomas Sowell

“Some of the most vocal critics of the way things are being done are people who have done

nothing themselves, and whose only contributions to society are their complaints and moral

exhibitionism.” – Thomas Sowell

“A liberal is someone who feels a great debt to his fellow man, which debt he proposes to

pay off with your money.” – G. Gordon Liddy

It'll take alot of time and background checking, fact-checking, and all that fun stuff before you begin learning the really good stuff...but if you look hard enough, and are smart enough to connect the dim glimpses of the past together, you'll begin to uncover the real truths behind it all...or at least get a better understanding of how to live.

I discourage you from trying to find religion as religion defined. In the truest sense, religion is only a following of dogmatic rituals with hopes of "enlightenment" or gaining a way into "heaven" by "following the rules."

The rules are only guides to lead one to righteousness. Seek true love and live for serving others. Forgive your enemies - that includes your mother, sister, brother, uncle, etc for the wrongs they commited on you. Believe this one thing - that before I came to salvation I had to try to do good. But now that I live by faith I have to try to do bad. As I know God is hurt by the wrongs I do. This was because for every drop of blood and torn fiber of flesh on His son's back was caused by my sin.

It was all paid for - my sin is no longer against me as Jesus took it away. Without beliveing this there is no way to come out from under the dark life of sin.

I hope you understand - your spiritual walk begins the moment you believe that Jesus was sent here for you and me. He was sent to bring us back to God and take away the great divide called sin that seperates us from God.

If you want religion what benefit is it to you to follow rules when it is our natural tendancy to rebel against them. Religion will only change your mind when faith will heal your heart and mind.

Accept Jesus and you will be saved.

Now ask - saved from what?
