View Full Version : Identifying a satanist
I've long suspected my old man is a satanist. Theres something unbelievably sinister about him. Hes drove two people insane just by being around them after they took PCP or other psychedelics. Both of them were convinced he was the devil and lost their minds permanently.
One guys dead now and the other womans still a nutcase. Personally Ive always seen something devilish about him. Every time I take mushrooms I see him as a devil. He even grew a little devils beard once.
Hes heavily into the occult and has skulls, candles, crystals and weird shit around his house. Hes mad into Aleister Crowley too. I just thought he had an evil style to him but I noticed the other day he has more than one upside down jesus ripped off the cross nailed to the wall.
Is that a satanic symbol or could it just be some occult symbol related to thelema or that other crap he studies?
If it was just one upside down jesus I wouldnt think much of it but he has a few of them and theyre all upside down. I said to him "Thats a bit sacreligious dont you think" and he got defensive about it and said in a sarcastic way "Yeah im a satanist, come on man"
What the hells this upside down jesus business about?
Seriously

If you don't let your emotions get in the way perhaps you could ask him. Unruly emotions tend to create explosice situations. He could answer your questions best.

My grandpa's a satanist.
Hes a cool guy, hes not dark at all.
I asked him and he says Satanisms just childish bullshit and has no real power.
Seriously

Try not to ask yes/no questions. Ask questions that are open-ended.e.g. What are your beliefs? Why do you hang Jesus upside-down? How have your beliefs and practices affected your life? How do you define good/evil? (How/What/Why)

Before you make all these accusations, maybe you should read up on what Satanism actually is.

You should stay away from him, he sounds creepy.

Anastasio's right, Satanism generally isn't the worship of satan, more like the worship of yourself. Or something like that. Oh, and stop taking mushrooms and maybe you'll stop thinking he's some psychadelic demon.

He sounds like a nutcase.
...ask him how I can get real power too. http://www.totse.com/bbs/redface.gif (http://www.totse.com/bbs/redface.gif)
you should bring some ghost hunters into your house to see if he is summoning spirits and stuff

First of all, hallucinogenic drugs will seriously fuck up your head, and how you percieve the world. For years, I believed my Dad's ex-wife was putting "spells" on me to hex me, and try to turn me gay (that one I find quite funny now), to cause me to fail at things which she did not approve of. I thought that I had stumbled across some great conspiracy - little did I know that eating handfuls of mushrooms all day long was causing me to plummet into psychosis.
Anyway, about satanists. They can be hard to tell, because the real hard-core ones, aren't the wee goths you see running around all dressed in black with black lipstick and painted nails. True satanists are usually wealthy prominent businessmen, held in good regard around town. It sounds farfetched, but I'm serious. Out of curiosty, does your father have any association with the Masons that you know of?

A great majority of Satanist do not believe that Satan even exist.
As Beaver186 said, they believe that each person is their own God.
These are some of the Satanic Rules-
1. Do not give opinions or advice unless you are asked.
2. Do not tell your troubles to others unless you are sure they want to hear them.
3. When in another’s lair, show him respect or else do not go there.
4. If a guest in your lair annoys you, treat him cruelly and without mercy.
5. Do not make sexual advances unless you are given the mating signal.
6. Do not take that which does not belong to you unless it is a burden to the other person and he cries out to be relieved.
7. Acknowledge the power of magic if you have employed it successfully to obtain your desires. If you deny the power of magic after having called upon it with success, you will lose all you have obtained.
8. Do not complain about anything to which you need not subject yourself.
9. Do not harm little children.
10. Do not kill non-human animals unless you are attacked or for your food.
11. When walking in open territory, bother no one. If someone bothers you, ask him to stop. If he does not stop, destroy him.
In reality, it is one of the least violent religions.
I'm not a Satanist myself, however it bothers me that people automatically assume that they are devil worshipers.

Thanks for clearing that up, the ignorance in this thread was hurting me. I personally think the satanist religion is kind of childish, because it tries to use concepts of lairs, but otherwise it isn't as bad as many religions.

Your dad sounds like a dumbass.
Thelema is the hoax religion that inspired Hubbard to make scientology.

In 1904, Aleister Crowley (1875–1947) — an English occultist, writer, and social provocateur— claimed to have received and written down The Book of the Law, which was to serve as the foundation of the religious and philosophical system he called Thelema,[21][22] so named, according to his friend of the 1930s, Shri Gurudev Mahendranath, "in reverence to the Rabelaisian masterpiece."[5] He summed up the Law of Thelema[23] in these phrases from the Book:
"Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law"[24]
"Love is the law, love under will"[25]
"There is no Law beyond Do what thou wilt"[26]
Crowley wrote that the Law is not a license to indulge in casual whim or to mindlessly accept cultural mores, but is rather a mandate to discover and manifest one's True Will, which he described as one's inner divine nature, spiritual destiny, or proper course in life

Which form of satanism do you refer to? LaVeyism or something? The true satanists which I referred to earlier, believe in the existence of not only satan, but God, The Blessed Trinity - Father Son and Holy Ghost. They also believe deeply in the transubstantiation of the Blessed Sacrament - especially considering they use it in black Mass. Some have said that satanists have a deeper belief in the transubstantiation than many Catholics, although I doubt the validity of this statement somewhat. I am not disputing that the people you refer to are also satanists, but am merely raising the point that they seem to be some sort of different "denomination" of satanist than ones I have heard of.
The hedonistic rule you listed seems to point to something similar to LaVey's bunch though.
The lengths some of the one's I refer to go to to get their hands on consecrated hosts is amazing, too. Obviously they have to steal them, unless they have a satanic priest... so they actually have covert infiltrators attending Mass. One is all they need for their black Mass. Old Nick's servants can even identify a consecrated host when scattered amongst dozens of unconsecrated hosts - they can pick the exact one out of the whole bunch.
So, anyway, I am interested to hear more about these guys you refer to, as I haven't really heard much about satanists that "don't believe in satan,"
God Bless,

There are two basic types of Satanism from what I can gather. Theistic Satanist and Symbolic Satanist.
The link is helpful.

I'm not necesarilly saying that Crowley wasn't batshit fucking crazy, but if you're going to claim Thelema is a "hoax" then you'll need to cite some sort of evidence that it was intentionally made up.
(as opposed to emerging from an opium trip --it isn't a "hoax" if the creator believed it was real himself)

I don't really have that evidence.
But hear me out. Crowley was a clever manipulative con artist; that he had in common with Hubbard, who was a prominent member of their thelema cult for some time. Hubbard then went on to craft his own bullshit religion - scientology - that is even better at sucking people in and parting them from their money. It was after Hubbard split from Crowley's gang that he said the way to really make money was to start your own religion. That's basically what I was saying.
By the way, thelema and LaVey's satanism do share some parrelels. Mostly, that a pretentious closet homosexual rebelled against perceived oppression by christiantiy, studied various occult and mystical traditions and repackaged them for personal fame, fortune and just old fashioned bad-assness. IMHFO.
