View Full Version : Atheist Organizations
I'd like to get a membership into a large, prominent, and possibly selective Atheist organization. Can anybody point me in a good direction?
communists?
seriously, why are you wanting to join a club? so you can sit around and agree with each other and freak out the religious.
why not join a sporting team, or something useful? who gives a shit if you are 'not a part of something big'?

i personally that anyone who desires to be a in a club for no purpose other than to belong is not the sharpest knife in the drawer.
religion and iq are not linked anyway, i know some very intelligent religious people. perhaps the person in the small town should not be so arrogant.

Actually there is an inverse correlation between religiousness and intelligence, but of course there are many exceptions.

Would it be fair to say that you want to be in an atheist church?
I find it very interesting how atheist always make sure their beliefs are known. Almost as bad as Christians.

afaik there are no modern studies which show any real inverse correlation between intelligence and religion. why should there be? its like saying there's some kind of link between intelligence and favourite colour.
its all about what stories you've been told, some of the world's smartest people have believed in the dumbest stories

Would it be fair to say that if he wanted to join an organization for Democratic beliefs, that he wants to be part of a Democrat church? No, it wouldn't.

There are different atheist organizations with different goals, but "making sure their beliefs are known" alone, probably isn't one of them.
Valid reasons for joining one would include helping (or at least having an interest in) keeping the Church and State separate, defending the civil rights of atheists, or simply interacting with like minded people. I'm sure you'd love to tie this in somehow with atheism being a religion, but it just ain't so.

Huh? Anyone who doesn't believe in God (or gods) is an atheist.

If you don't believe in God , you are atheist. You could easilly be something else also, but you would be atheist in regards to God.

That's annoying how christians act about non-christians. They can't imagine life without religion, so they figure whoever doesn't believe in jesus must have some surrogate faith, like aitheism, or satanism, or their car, football, or heroin.
