View Full Version : Hmm...
How is it that people can just believe in something that there is absolutely no proof of?
People go from being atheist, to being a strong believer in god, which ever god that is.
I was brought up in a atheist household, mostly everyone I knew mocked religion and those that followed it.
Still, now I feel that people believing in something so non-nonsensical must be weak minded and ignorant.
But at the same time, its like theres a empty place in me, like something is missing.
It just doesn't make sense.
Either way, after I wrote this I think it should probably go in SG...

Einstein said something along the lines of every man should have a religious experience. That's not to say you should go all hardcore religious, mind.
You should check out pantheism.

Oh, there's proof, it's just not the kind of tangible, physical proof you're used to. Eventually, it's the only thing that makes sense.

lol, okay, tomorrow though since I'm going to sleep now and that will be a helluva challenge. A lot of the ideas I have are hard to formulate and articulate into coherent sentences. But I'll try.

Aye, even the atheist in me figured it wouldn't it to try.
To the OP: That empty feeling inside? That's what it feels like to stand facing the world with not a single one on your side to help you in the way you need.
My suggestion? Believe. In something. It doesn't matter much what the fuck it is. Just believe in something that requires even a small leap of faith (honor, love, peace, etc...shit that doesn't seem to be likely but is known to exist every now and then). It may be irrational, but it does fill the hole without causing harm...and who knows, it might set you on an interesting journey. http://www.totse.com/bbs/smile.gif (http://www.totse.com/bbs/smile.gif)
Life's crazy like that.

for me, i just see what God has done in my life. Yes, I realize that it could be a bunch of things that happen to everyone, and that I respond differnet to most people. But, you just look at thing, and eventually you make the leap. Its not weak minded, its just that everyone doesn't need 100% proof
