Could It be? Do the viking scriptures describe a nuclear holocaust that will take place during Ragnarok, could the Naglfar be a boomer sub? Could Lif and Lifthrasir be the last human survivors?

Hmm interesting thought. Not sure about boomer subs though.Then the problem with any form of eschatological prediction is that each generation sees things in it that are specific to that generation.(ie For along time evangelical christians thought the Soviet union was the 'Great Beast' etc.)

However as far as i know nearly all mythologies describe events similar to the ones in the Edda often with the same key elements.

As I don't really believe in prophecy per se I think that all these 'myths' are infact folk memories of 'global' destructions that have already taken place.
