I'm going to use totse as something of a discussion-blog for my entrance into a Buddhist veiw of things. I won't call myself Buddhist until I've considered this for a long time.

So, we have the First Noble Truth. This Truth is Suffering. We all suffer, and are thus connected. To cause another person grief would be to harm oneself in a "vicious cycle" sort of way. Grief is this cycle that continues when one wants revenge.

We must accept Suffering, for it is a Truth. Suffering in some ways is good for us, and causes growth. Sometimes suffering is the other kind, and it kicks you down. Either way, one must accept it and move on, as there is no avoiding it.

Word up man, good idea on turning to Buddhism.

Desire leads to suffering. You can never fufill your desires, and when this happens you suffer.

Learn that every moment is the perfect moment. Then life is incredibly wonderful, and liveable.

Getting shot is also painful. What religion do you have to remedy this?

Pain is inevitable, suffering is not, as they say in India.

Nothing is True.

But wait, if nothing is true, then the statement "nothing is true" isn't true, so something is true. Like woah, man.

And if something can be True, that means my statement can be true anyway.

Anyways, in all seriousness, Buddhist philosophy has some interesting things to say, but I personally got more out of Hinduism.

I recommend reading the Upanishads(Hindu texts) and, if you're interested in seeing what Buddhism would be if it had been founded by a Westerner, check out Arthur Schopenhauer.

That's just it of course! When it comes right down to it, everything IS that simple.

Buddhism, morally, is the aim Christianity attempts to attain and maintain.

If a Buddhist truly grasped Buddhism, he wouldn't label himself a Buddhist. http://www.totse.com/bbs/wink.gif (http://www.totse.com/bbs/wink.gif)

Suffering is samsara (cyclic existence) and samsara is nirvana (extinguishment of desire). Black and white are merely different shades of the same totality. http://www.totse.com/bbs/smile.gif (http://www.totse.com/bbs/smile.gif)
