what exactly is the history of the bible? who wrote it? under whose instructions? i just can't get to the bottom of it.

then, the new world translations or whatever its called come out??? who is that written by? it seems to me that biblical religions are trying to change to keep up with the new world (hence the name, eh?) so they release a completely new and even more unfounded version of the bible.

can someone please help me out on this one?

EDIT: i already know that the two are written about different topics and stuff and contain different content like the book of revelation and stuff.

The Old Testament was handed down through oral tradition for hundreds of years before any of the books were written. the New Testament was written by early Christian scholars, and the accepted list of books was decided upon by a council of early christians in a place called Nicea.

For hundreds of years afterwards the Bible was rewritten by hand by monks. Because they were the only ones in their towns who could read, they would sometimes edit the book to their liking. Modern researchers have found out that some stories were altered, and others were flat-out fabricated (including the famous story of Jesus declaring "Let him who is free of sin cast the first stone").

Modern Bibles are created by teams of translators who transcribe the book into modern languages.

I hope that helps answer your question.
