Someone once asked me this, and i really had no idea what to say. Its almost like a question that cannot be answered, but can only be thought about. Thoughts??

It's just supposed to be a contradiction to the idea of an omnipotent being. Me thinks it's pretty lame

It doesn't even make sense. It's just a really ridiculous question asked to throw people off. It's like me asking you, can your body make a shit so big, that it can't fall out of your ass? You just laugh it off.

Next time, ask approximately how many tons this rock would weigh.

Actually it makes perfect sense and the only logical conclusion is that "omnipotence" is impossible in a linguistic sense and thus that our current idea of "god" is flawed at best.

And yes it can make a shit that big. Ask any long-term opiate user, a la this (http://www.totse.com/bbs/Forum5/HTML/248623.html), but worse.

Why? That proves that nothing can be truly omnipotent. Perhaps it's even a law of our universe that nothing could be in total power. Are you telling me that god can/cannot make a mass so heavy that he can't lift it?

No god cannot because he is all powerful and all seeing therefore he cannot (at least in my eyes that how it is)

I simply mean that as an earlier poster stated, it simply works on a very abstract, linguistic sense. If something is omnipotent, then tautoglogically the being can do anything. Linguistically, we can create many contradictions within the tautology, yet not outside of it. Ergo, it loses its value.

The question is not a valid question. As i have pointed out in about three threads now - the question is comparing Gods omnipotence with Gods omnipotence and asking which is greater.

Here is the question : Is God more powerful than God?

This is like asking : Am I more like Daz than Daz?

The question only makes sense if you break it up like someone else suggested in another thread, i believe they phrased it like this -

Can God make a rock of indiscriminite size and weight?

Can God then lift said rock?

If God is omnipotent the answer is yes and yes. Simple.

Could god count to infinity?

He counts backwards from double inifinty to negative infinity... on the lines in his left index finger.
