think about it! If we find aliens that have never heard of god, then what, all christians expect those billions and billions of aliens to all go to hell also? what are christians going to do when that day comes? when they realize there is no god?

They'll twist some passage of the bible into explaining how life got sent of the planet after genesis. And the aliens have lost the path to heaven. Hopefully the aliens will laugh .

Religious groups will hopefully not have as much power by then. If they are, they will try and get us into a war to destroy "Satan's Creation". This can very possibly end up in our destruction.

I think it would depend on whether it's us being the more superior race and visiting them, or them finding us. If they find us, most people will most likely just listen to them. If we find them, they'll most likely listen us. Like when white people found the americas and converted native americans to out way of life. Those who are resisting are still suffering today. Maybe our religions are the doing of an alien race visiting us a very long time ago.

Frankly, I don't think a whole lot of much would happen. I mean, everyone would be super freaked out for about a week but as soon as everyone realized there's really not much they can do about it and that we'll just have to co-exist I imagine it wont be the apocalypse or anything. It would be a huge deal for the scientific community, though.

Edit: And what makes you think aliens haven't heard of god before? They probably have their own god(s) and religions that are just as wank ass as our own.

Religious people tend to be extremely intolerant of all kinds of differences.

Aliens would be a macrocosm of how their religion is not the end all of the universe and they would see it as a threat.

You are right, lets say that they were about on par with us, but as I believe some UFO theory. They are probably more intelligent and thus yes they would have moved beyond religion.

But if there is one more intelligent as us it is also likely one that is more primitive than us who take their religion to more extreme levels.

I think anything is possible.

LostCause is right if we only discover them by seeing them afar say with the hubble telescope, but if we travel there moderately efficient like, I can see the religious groups ready to kill some aliens.

Yes boozehound420 is much in how we want to classify things, philosophy being the better than calling it religion, but it is possible that they will cling to their beliefs as much as our religious groups. I severely hope that tolerance of ALL is a teaching as it should be everywhere.

lol, uhhh The only way that would be possible is if the aliens were getting brainwashed by the evangelicals on our TV signals being shot out into space during there trip to us. Hmm, I think that actually, as soon as we were able to communicate with the aliens, they would tell us stories about their history. Even if they didn't believe in God and weren't religious, they would still obviously have a history full of various battles or events and so on.

I'm guessing all the christians would jump up and immediately explain how some of the aliens events are christianity, even if it's obvious they aren't related. Like, one of their heroes died to save the others in a war, and they jump on it and say he's Jesus and it proves christianity is true.

there is a theory that our life came from a meteor, if this is true, then they could be exactly the same as us genetically. but still they would have different language etc, so we wouldnt know what they think. also theyd be cleverer is they came here.

if life did not come from a meteor, or if they are from a different planet, then they might not even have the same DNA structure. they might not have DNA in the same sence as us. they might not have audible language. they most probably wouldnt be able to live on earth if they didnt have the same kind of DNA as us.

Alien life won't be found in my lifetime I think.

It may be possible that aliens may not allow themselves to be found until our human race to peace with itself, and we may never come to peace with ourselves until we find alien life. Hmmmmm.... that would be one of the saddest things ever. If we find aliens and they are hostile, it is going to take the entire human race to fight that war.

There is a theories that the Angels are actually Aliens. The Bible isn't suppose to be taken 100% literally, but some people don't understand that. What is with all the hatred towards Christians? Yeah, some of them are more than annoying, but not of all us. I don't think I would change if we contacted/found another life form.

I fail to see how having a different kind of DNA or genetic encoding mechanism would stop them from existing on our planet. There really isn't a correlation between those two ideas.

Christians do tend to go to crazy lengths to avoid admitting that they're wrong. If intelligent aliens show up who aren't religious, they may believe they are demons.

Not to sound arrogant or anything, but numerous studies have been done that have correlated high education level and/or high IQ with disbelief in a higher power/religion in general. So, my guess would be that it's only natural to assume that beings of higher intelligence than us would, also, disbelieve.

But in anycase, I think that it's foolish to just up and say that any alien being with greater mental capacity would abandon religion. Having a greater mental capacity could lead to an increased ability to argue for as well as against religion.

Just saying that as intelligence increases religion decreases ignores so many factors that you can't base it on that alone.

That said, I'm not sure how many hyper-intelligent space-beings there are out there. So I guess we'll have to wait to find out.

This is because of all of the races we have encountered we are the only race that has felt the need create a higher power (or see it whatever). Not one other animal, despite what you think, you are an animal, has shown signs of religion in any way.

However, this works both ways. We assume we contain the higher intellect and yet if these races of a lower intellect don't believe in god then how can "the smarter you are the less you believe in god(para phrased)" be true?
